Production Engineer

J5X, SG - Advanced materials · On-site

About this role

How will you CONTRIBUTE and GROW?

The Production Engineer acts as a technical resource for Operations personnel in the plant. This role is responsible for applying technical skills to optimize plant operations, resolve technical and operational problems, and enable the safe, efficient, reliable and compliant production of quality products. The Production Engineer must drive effective change implementation and sustained gains through strong collaboration across all site teams (Maintenance, Quality, HSE) with a focus on Lean and Continuous Improvement.

Safety, Compliance, and Process Excellence (The 3 Core Commitments)

1. Zero Deviation & Stop Work Authority

Drives a non-negotiable culture of "Do It Safe, Do It Right the First Time" and “No Tolerance to Deviation”.

Ensure Procedure/IMS Compliance: Will always follow approved procedures. Perform periodical task observation at production floor to ensure procedure compliance. If a procedure is incorrect or cannot be followed, the engineer must immediately Stop Work, report the issue to the supervisor/manager, and ensure correction through the Management of Change (MOC) process. Never deviate from procedures or bypass safeguards without authorization. Well informed on IMS documents (GT, GPs) and principles relevant to their process and activities.

Proactive Monitoring of important production parameters & internal procedure compliance checks, when any abnormality or deviation is observed, report, by collaborating with stakeholders, lead the investigation/ troubleshooting effort.

Shared Vigilance: Be a proponent of the WHY behind the safety rules established. Proactively monitor critical safety parameters, following up on the alarms and deviations to loop close them and systematically keep the Production Manager informed on the status.

2. Operational Excellence and Continuous Improvement

● Serves as the Local Expert for the assigned ALAM product line/process, maintaining deep technical knowledge of the chemistry, plant operation, and technical capacity.

Expected to obtain deep, hands-on understanding (how, why) on the process they are responsible for, and willing to learn on how to operate (to be qualified) for the process (at least for the most important process). Able to troubleshoot the operation they manage and critically analyse process deviations (output or process parameters).

● Establish & Monitors Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) daily against plant goals for personal safety, process safety, process performance (incl variability) quality, and productivity. Take action to resolve performance gaps.

● Designs, develops, and manages small to medium-size local capital projects to improve efficiency, reliability, safety, and product line expansion.

● Implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance (reliability, uptime, variability reduction), and product quality based on methodical, data-driven problem-solving.

● Contribute and reach out to the MOFAN associated with the products under their responsibility.

● Physically lead or attend any significant intervention on the system they manage (major PMs, upgrades, start-ups) and verify the full recovery and operational performance after such intervention.

3. Documentation and People Development

● Builds and enforces strong Operating Discipline related to start-up, shut-down, and normal operations.

● Creates and updates key operating documents, including learning resources and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs and Work Instructions). Ensures knowledge transfer to operators and integrates feedback from operations and appropriate SMEs to such documents.

● Responsible for driving MOC from initiation to closure for all plant and process changes.

4. Availability

● Expected to be on call nights, weekends, and holidays as dictated by business needs.
