Electronics Integration Engineer
About this role
About Us
AIM Solutions is an early-stage deep-tech startup based in Eindhoven, focused on building innovative inspection and metrology equipment for the semiconductor industry. We are actively growing our small but ambitious team during our build phase.
The Role
As an Electronics Integration Engineer at AIM Solutions, you will take full ownership of integrating the electrical components for our cutting-edge semiconductor metrology tool. Your key responsibility will be to connect lasers, cameras, motion stages, interlocks, and sensors into a single, robust, and professionally engineered system. This role also involves working with our FPGA-based timing and trigger chains. You will be hands-on with electronics every day, transforming high-level requirements into reliable hardware that performs consistently in a lab environment. We are seeking a self-driven individual who can work independently and develop into the key in-house expert for this critical domain.
Key Responsibilities
Design and build electronics to connect subsystems, including breakout boards, signal conditioning, level shifting, custom cables, and connectors
Take ownership of cable routing, shielding, and grounding for signal integrity, ensuring measurement accuracy at nanosecond scale
Serve as the go-to person for electrical problem-solving and system integration, starting by reviewing and validating existing electrical designs
Own and develop the FPGA-based timing and trigger chain to synchronize several devices with strict timing budgets
Configure and debug electronic hardware on the bench using oscilloscopes, signal generators. Performing hardware-in-the-loop tests to meet performance specifications
Your Profile
Strong foundation in digital and analog electronics: schematic capture, PCB and breakout board design, hands-on assembly (soldering, cabling, probing)
Experience with timing-critical, trigger-based systems and familiarity with lab instruments (oscilloscope, logic analyzer, delay generator)
Understanding of signal integrity, electrical standards, and best practices (grounding, shielding, EMI, and cable routing for precision measurement)
Adequate FPGA experience to integrate, debug, and expand timing and trigger systems
Comfortable using Python for bring-up scripts, test automation, and quick data analysis
Demonstrated ownership mindset, able to turn rough requirements into reliable lab hardware
Technically curious, willing to learn new domain knowledge in optics and metrology
Full professional proficiency in English
3–5 years relevant experience in electrical engineering, embedded systems, or FPGA development; BSc or MSc in a related field
Bonus Experience
Xilinx/AMD Zynq
Motion control and encoder interfaces (quadrature/AqB, position latching, interpolation)
Sub-microsecond timing and low-jitter trigger distribution
Laser, camera, or industrial sensor trigger interfaces
Scientific instrument or semiconductor equipment development
Exceptional candidates with 2–3 years of experience and direct exposure to one of the bonus areas are also welcome to apply.
What We Offer
Full ownership of the electronics and timing backbone of a unique, cutting-edge tool
Small, collaborative team with short feedback loops and the opportunity to make real impact
Competitive salary for the Dutch market
