Position Summary

The Instrumentation Technician is responsible for the installation, calibration, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of process instrumentation and control systems used in manufacturing operations. This position ensures the reliable operation of equipment used to monitor and control critical process variables including temperature, pressure, flow, level, pH, conductivity, weight, and other process parameters. The technician works closely with Operations, Engineering, Quality, and Maintenance personnel to support safe, compliant, and efficient plant operation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspect, test, calibrate, maintain, and repair process instrumentation and control systems.
  • Troubleshoot electrical, electronic, pneumatic, and instrumentation-related equipment failures.
  • Perform preventive and predictive maintenance activities to improve equipment reliability.
  • Install, commission, and validate new instrumentation and control equipment.
  • Calibrate transmitters, sensors, analyzers, load cells, control valves, and related devices.
  • Support PLC, HMI, SCADA, and distributed control system (DCS) troubleshooting and maintenance.
  • Review and interpret P&IDs, wiring diagrams, instrument loop drawings, and technical specifications.
  • Investigate process alarms, control system issues, and equipment malfunctions.
  • Complete maintenance documentation, calibration records, and work orders accurately and on time.
  • Ensure compliance with GMP, safety, environmental, and company requirements.
  • Participate in plant shutdowns, startups, commissioning activities, and capital projects.
  • Support continuous improvement and reliability initiatives.
  • Work collaboratively with operations, engineering, quality assurance, and other maintenance trades.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Diploma in Instrumentation Technician, or a related field.
  • 2+ years related experience.
  • Minimum of 1+ years' experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Instrumentation Technician Red Seal Certification considered an asset.
  • Instrumentation Technician Red Seal Certification considered an asset.
  • Experience with industrial process instrumentation and control systems.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills involving instrumentation, electrical systems, PLCs, and automation equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and engineering documentation.
  • Proficiency with calibration equipment and maintenance software (CMMS).
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Minimum 1 year experience in a Manufacturing Environment.

This job has a full time weekly schedule.

The full-time equivalent pay range for this position is $24.43 - $42.74/hr CAD plus eligibility for bonus, stock and benefits. Our pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
