About this role

Job Description

This role owns the test strategy, end-to-end validation and release readiness of automation and software solutions for advanced analytical and mass spectrometry workflows, with emphasis on MassHunter-based GC/MS, LC/MS, and high-end MS applications. The successful candidate will validate sample-to-result workflows across acquisition, analysis, review, QC logic, reporting, data integration and release documentation, while providing PSE-oriented technical enablement to internal engineers and automation integrators. The role is expected to improve workflow robustness, usability, integration readiness and deployment success through disciplined validation and practical technical recommendations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Define validation strategy, test scope, risk-based coverage and release readiness criteria for MassHunter-based automation and software solutions.
  • Validate end-to-end analytical and MS workflows across GC/MS, LC/MS, triple quadrupole, QTOF, unknown screening, smart review, reporting and high-throughput automation scenarios.
  • Create and maintain test plans, test cases, traceability matrices, validation evidence, summary reports and release documentation aligned with Agilent PLC and quality governance expectations.
  • Lead defect triage, root cause analysis, retesting, closure, quality metric tracking, and release risk communication across R&D, Product Management, Quality, project teams and leadership.
  • Provide PSE-oriented technical enablement for workflow configuration, execution, troubleshooting, issue isolation and optimization of MassHunter-based analytical and MS solutions.
  • Support automation integration by clarifying workflow requirements, validating data flow, identifying integration risks and guiding sample-to-result deployment readiness.
  • Translate validation findings, field feedback and integration issues into actionable product, workflow and deployment recommendations.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in chemistry, life science, analytical science, software engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of relevant industry experience in software testing, validation, quality engineering, or scientific workflow verification for analytical instrumentation software.
  • Strong hands-on experience with advanced analytical or MS workflows, including GC/MS, LC/MS, triple quadrupole, QTOF, MassHunter, or comparable scientific software platforms.
  • Solid understanding of test strategy, risk-based planning, defect lifecycle, validation evidence, traceability, release readiness and PLC-driven quality processes.
  • Experience using test management, defect tracking and quality documentation tools such as Jira, SparkFlow, or equivalent systems.
  • Ability to translate scientific workflow requirements into test scenarios, edge cases, representative data sets, acceptance criteria and objective validation evidence.
  • Ability to provide practical technical guidance to engineering teams and automation integrators on workflow troubleshooting, configuration validation, issue isolation, and solution recommendations.
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills, including clear technical documentation and fluent English communication with global stakeholders.

Preferred Experience

  • Familiarity with Agilent MassHunter modules such as Acquisition, Quantitative Analysis, Qualitative Analysis, BioConfirm, Smart Review, or related MS software platforms.
  • Experience with automation-enabled MS deployments involving sample handling, data transfer, workflow orchestration, integrated review, or sample-to-result implementation.
  • Background in product support engineering, application support, automation integration support, or technical enablement for analytical instrumentation software.
  • Exposure to regulated or quality-sensitive environments, including GxP, CSV, audit trail, data integrity, design traceability, or compliance validation.
