About this role
We're looking for a Founding Engineer that is backend-leaning with 0–5 years of experience (flexible for exceptional candidates with more) who has shipped production software at a pedigreed company — think FAANG, high-growth VC-backed startups (Series A+), or equivalent. You should be comfortable owning projects end-to-end in a fast-paced, early-stage environment and have a track record of building things from 0→1. Bonus points if you've worked at big tech and then moved to a startup, or have founder/ex-founder experience.
Responsibilities
Build and design APIs and backend infrastructure that AI agents use to communicate, authenticate, and operate in the real world — this is the core product
Own 0→1 projects end-to-end, from scoping customer requirements through system design to production rollout (e.g., building out IMAP integration, usage-based pricing systems)
Work across the full stack when needed (~80% backend, ~20% frontend/other), touching distributed systems, databases, and developer tooling
Proactively identify and pitch growth experiments or product ideas — you're expected to bring ideas, not just execute on tickets
Be the frontline for customer feedback and occasionally support enterprise customers with custom deployments
Write clear, maintainable code and strong technical documentation while processing hundreds of thousands of emails per day through core infrastructure
