Compensation: $100,000-120,000
About this position:
Advantech is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer with a focus on RISC-based computing platforms. This role combines hands-on circuit design support, system validation, and customer-facing technical support. This role is well suited for an engineer who demonstrates initiative, effectively manages competing priorities, and can identify and resolve issues during product validation.
Responsibilities:
- Support the integration, design, and validation of system architectures, interfaces, and electrical circuits for RISC-based embedded computing platforms.
- Collaborate with software and firmware developers throughout system development
- Provide pre-sales and post-sales technical support, including feasibility testing, data measurements, technical responses to customer bids, RMA verification, and on-site technical training
- Assess customer technical requirements, develop solutions, perform system testing, and support installation in customer environments
- Build hardware and software demonstration prototypes to support sales and marketing efforts, including rapid prototyping and system integration
- Address field issues and coordinate with field sales personnel
- Ability to occasionally lift and carry moderate-weight equipment and work for extended periods while sitting, standing, or walking, with or without reasonable accommodation.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years of experience with RISC and x86 hardware design, installation, and troubleshooting
- Strong understanding of RISC-based (e.g., Arm) computing architectures
- Ability to use a multimeter, oscilloscope, and other standard electronic troubleshooting equipment
- Ability to read and troubleshoot mechanical drawings, schematics, and PCB circuits
- Experience with application coding using industry-standard languages such as C is a plus
- Familiarity with Linux environments
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Experience with RISC-V based designs
- Experience supporting customers in a technical pre-sales or post-sales capacity
