Position Summary:
Join our Medical Design Group as an Engineering Coordinator and support the successful execution of new product development, sustaining engineering, and customer programs. Working closely with Engineering Team Leads, Electrical, Firmware, Mechanical, Manufacturing, and Quality Engineers, you will coordinate project activities, engineering documentation, prototype logistics, purchasing activities, and office operations. This role serves as a key organizational resource to help ensure projects remain on schedule while supporting engineering teams with planning, communication, shipping, receiving, and administrative activities.
Responsibilities
Project and Engineering Coordination
- Support engineering projects by maintaining schedules, action item lists, and project documentation.
- Support project meetings, design reviews, and status updates.
- Track engineering deliverables, milestones, and due dates.
- Assist Engineering Team Leads with project planning and resource coordination activities.
- Follow up on open action items and communicate status updates to stakeholders.
- Support engineering change implementation and documentation activities.
- Assist with maintaining engineering records, specifications, reports, and controlled documents.
- Maintain project trackers and dashboards using Microsoft Office tools and other business systems.
Laboratory and Prototype Support
- Coordinate prototype builds and engineering sample requests.
- Assist with procurement and tracking of engineering materials, components, and supplies.
- Coordinate shipment and receipt of customer samples, prototypes, and engineering hardware.
- Maintain inventory of engineering materials, laboratory equipment, prototypes, and consumable supplies.
- Support calibration scheduling and tracking activities.
Office and Administrative Support
- Coordinate visitor access, meetings, travel arrangements, and team events as needed.
- Prepare presentations, reports, and meeting materials.
- Generate purchase requisitions, track engineering orders, and coordinate with purchasing and suppliers to support project schedules.
- Organize engineering files and maintain department documentation.
- Assist with onboarding activities for new team members.
Cross-Functional Communication
- Interface with Engineering, Manufacturing, Quality, Supply Chain, Program Management, and Operations teams.
- Communicate project status, shipment updates, and logistics information.
- Support customer and supplier correspondence as directed by the engineering team.
Continuous Improvement
- Identify opportunities to improve engineering workflows, documentation processes, and departmental efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and develop knowledge of engineering, project management, and product development processes.
Qualifications
- Associate degree, technical diploma, or equivalent experience in Business Administration, Engineering Technology, Project Coordination, or related field.
- 1-3 years of experience in engineering coordination, project coordination, manufacturing support, or administrative support roles.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional technical teams.
Preferred
- Experience supporting engineering or product development teams.
- Experience in manufacturing, electronics, medical device, or regulated industries.
- Familiarity with ERP systems such as SAP.
- Experience with project tracking tools such as Microsoft Project, Smartsheet, Jira, or similar platforms.
- Experience coordinating shipments, receiving activities, and inventory management.
- Familiarity with engineering change processes and document control systems.
- Experience supporting ISO 13485 or regulated product-development environments.
