About this role

 

The Officer Airside Operations is responsible for ensuring a safe, efficient, and serviceable airside environment while delivering excellent customer service to airlines and key stakeholders. As part of the 24/7 Airside Operations Team, the role supports the Duty Manager Airside (DMA) in maintaining aerodrome safety and operational standards in compliance with the Aerodrome Certificate, GCAA regulations, and other applicable legislation. The role also supports emergency response activities in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan and requires strong communication and stakeholder management skills to coordinate effectively with airport customers, government agencies, emergency services, and senior management.

 

Responsibilities

Safety, Compliance & Inspections

  • Comply with all company management systems, policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Assist senior officers in ensuring the aerodrome operates safely and efficiently.  
  • Conduct movement area inspections and record findings as required. 
  • Conduct wildlife inspections in accordance with the Wildlife Hazard Management Plan. 
  • Enforce airside safety regulations and ensure compliance by all airside users. 
  • Ensure Safety Management System (SMS) requirements are integrated into daily operations. 
  • Monitor and oversee contractor activities on the airfield to ensure compliance with permits and regulatory requirements. 
  • Conduct FOD (Foreign Object Debris) control activities. 
  • Support audits, inspections, enforcement activities, and continuous operational improvements. 

Operational Management

  • Execute daily airside operations activities and maintain accurate duty logs. 
  • Participate in shift briefings and implement lessons learned through a continuous improvement process. 
  • Oversee aircraft turnaround activities and general airside operations. 
  • Manage weather, wildlife, and obstacle-related risks affecting airside operations. 
  • Support disabled aircraft recovery operations when required. 
  • Maintain accurate operational records and reports. 

Incident & Emergency Response

  • Respond to aerodrome incidents and accidents and report them according to procedures. 
  • Participate in all airport emergencies in accordance with the Airport Emergency Plan. 
  • Ensure operational readiness for emergency and contingency situations. 
  • Coordinate with emergency services and stakeholders during incidents. 

Airside Services & Stakeholder Coordination

  • Provide escort services for police vehicles, VIP vehicles, ambulances, and contractors. 
  • Provide aircraft "Follow Me" services when required. 
  • Establish and maintain effective communication with customers and stakeholders. 
  • Work collaboratively with all internal and external stakeholders. 
  • Coordinate airside activities to ensure compliance with national and international aviation safety standards. 

Performance & Development

  • Deliver team objectives and individual performance targets. 
  • Complete all required training and familiarization programs to maintain aerodrome certification requirements. 
  • Undertake any additional duties assigned by Airside Operations management. 

 

Requirements and Skills

Education & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Aviation or a related discipline. 
  • Valid UAE Driving License. 

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in airport operations. 
  • Experience conducting aerodrome inspections. 
  • Experience working under GCAA regulations and statutory legal requirements. 
  • Experience operating within an airside environment and understanding its technical requirements.
