Role Overview

The Senior Benefits Specialist is responsible for the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of ASC's employee benefits programs. This role serves as a subject matter expert for benefits administration, compliance, and employee education while providing data-driven insights to support strategic decision-making.

The ideal candidate possesses strong analytical capabilities, in-depth benefits knowledge, and the ability to effectively communicate complex benefits information to employees, leadership, and external partners. This position plays a key role in ensuring ASC's benefit offerings remain competitive, compliant, and aligned with organizational objectives.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and administer employee benefits programs, including open enrollment, new hire orientation, leave administration, disability programs, deferred compensation plans, and retirement counseling.
  • Prepare recurring benefits analytics, utilization reports, benchmarking analyses, and audit-ready documentation to support business decisions and program effectiveness.
  • Monitor, review, and interpret current and pending legislation, regulations, and plan documents to ensure ongoing compliance with federal, state, local, and company requirements.
  • Support complex benefits initiatives, including contract negotiations, policy development, vendor management, and implementation of benefit program enhancements.
  • Respond to employee inquiries regarding eligibility, coverage, claims, retirement planning, leave management, and other benefit-related matters.
  • Develop and deliver employee presentations, communication strategies, and educational materials that enhance awareness and understanding of available benefits.
  • Collaborate with insurance carriers, consultants, HR team members, payroll personnel, and union representatives to optimize benefit offerings and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Conduct benefits audits and reconciliation activities to ensure accuracy, compliance, and data integrity.
  • Analyze benefits trends, utilization patterns, and workforce needs to provide actionable recommendations for program improvement and cost management.
  • Maintain confidential employee information while ensuring compliance with all applicable privacy regulations and organizational standards.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in benefits administration, benefits analysis, human resources, or a related function.
  • Strong understanding of employee benefits programs, leave administration, retirement plans, and applicable compliance requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to analyze complex benefits data, identify trends, and provide actionable recommendations to leadership.
  • Experience with HRIS systems, benefits administration platforms, and reporting tools.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with employees, management, vendors, and external partners.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proven ability to handle complex situations, develop innovative solutions, and provide recommendations on benefits-related policies and procedures.
  • Strong problem-solving, organizational, and project management skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and PowerPoint.
