Systems Engineer
About this role
Provides technical leadership for the Consulting and System Integration engineering staff across Associated’s three divisional offices in Indianapolis, IN, Warrenville, IL and Inver Grove Heights, MN. Supports customer-facing sales staff by leading solution design efforts through evaluating customer requirements, creating value-added material handling solutions and developing project costs. Leads project implementation efforts by working with customers and suppliers to ensure projects are completed on schedule and on budget. Assists in data collection and data interpretation for general application analysis.
Salary starts at 97K and pays based on experience.
Essential Functions:
- Provides technical leadership for the department in conjunction with the Engineering Manager
- Displays technical expertise in design and implementation
- Develops warehousing storage and automation solutions and creates appropriate drawings
- Creates bills of material and determines project costs
- Performs effective project management during implementation
- Maintains a strong working knowledge of current product and service offerings throughout the market
- Supports proposal generation and sales processes led by customer facing sales staff, as required
- Accompanies sales staff on sales calls to provide technical expertise
- Performs related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates

Required Qualifications:
- Expertise in conventional and automated warehousing/distribution solutions, including conveyor systems, AS/RS, AGVs, and mobile racking
- Strong communication skills for collaborating with suppliers, contractors, and permitting authorities
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
- Proven attention to detail in project planning and execution
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and Project
- Effective written and verbal communication skills for professional correspondence and presentations
- Demonstrated sound judgment, reasoning, and advanced analytical problem-solving abilities
- Strong interpersonal skills with consistent follow-up and follow-through
- Experience analyzing data and translating findings into actionable customer solutions
- Up to 20% travel
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Industrial Technology and a minimum of 5 years of material handling experience
