Accounting Manager
Compensation: $115,000–$150,000 annually. Compensation is commensurate with experience, qualifications, and demonstrated competencies. Starting salary will be determined based on the candidate's overall qualifications and alignment with the responsibilities and requirements of the role.

Position Overview
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Manager will lead a team of three accountants and play a key role in strengthening RSC’s accounting close, reporting, controls, and process improvement efforts. This position is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys developing people, improving monthly close activities, standardizing workflows, and helping drive adoption of automation and technology across the accounting function. The Accounting Manager will partner closely with the Controller and CFO to improve accuracy, timeliness, visibility, and scalability within the finance organization.
Key Responsibilities (including, but not limited to):
Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, coach, and develop a team of three to four accountants, setting clear priorities, reviewing work for accuracy and completeness, and supporting professional growth.
- Promote feedback, innovation, continuous improvement and a focus on efficiency within the accounting team.
- Create structure, accountability, and consistency across the accounting team’s recurring close, reconciliation, reporting, and process improvement responsibilities.
Monthly Close, Reporting, and Accounting Operations
- Lead monthly close activities, including close calendars, recurring journal entries, account reconciliations, variance analysis, and review of supporting schedules.
- Establish and monitor close-related performance metrics to improve timeliness, accuracy, accountability, and visibility throughout the month-end process.
- Drive successful adoption of new processes and tools, addressing resistance through open communication and collaboration with stakeholders.
- Review account reconciliations, journal entries, financial schedules, and supporting documentation to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with internal policies.
- Partner with the Controller to identify recurring close bottlenecks, reduce manual work, and improve the consistency and reliability of accounting processes.
- Support financial reporting by preparing, reviewing, and analyzing schedules, account details, and explanations for significant variances.
- Help strengthen internal controls, documentation standards, and audit readiness across recurring accounting activities.
Process Improvement and Automation Adoption
- Identify, prioritize, and implement process improvements that simplify accounting workflows, reduce manual effort, improve review quality, and increase transparency.
- Drive adoption of automation tools, reporting improvements, and standardized procedures by documenting workflows, training users, and reinforcing consistent use of new processes.
Collaboration and Cross-Functional Process Improvement
- Collaborate with operations, sales, service, and other departments to improve the accuracy, consistency, and timeliness of accounting inputs used in financial reporting.
- Translate recurring accounting issues into clear process changes, training needs, documentation updates, or system enhancement opportunities.
- Communicate accounting requirements and deadlines clearly to business partners to support an efficient and accurate close process.
Controls, Documentation, and Audit Readiness
- Maintain clear accounting documentation, schedules, reconciliations, and support files to improve consistency, accessibility, compliance, and audit readiness.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or another related business field.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, including:
- Month-end close
- Account reconciliations
- Journal entries
- Financial reporting support
- Internal controls
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and their practical application.
- Proven experience improving accounting processes, standardizing recurring workflows, and reducing manual or duplicative work.
- Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting, and internal controls.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1+ year of direct people leadership experience, preferably leading accountants or accounting staff responsible for recurring close and reporting activities.
- CPA and/or CMA certification.
- Experience supporting automation adoption, ERP improvements, reporting tools, workflow documentation, or accounting system enhancements is strongly preferred.
- Proven ability to oversee the accuracy and timely completion of month-end close activities, reconciliations, schedules, and team deliverables.
- Proven ability to train and lead a team.
