Adaptive PE Instructor

Job Description:
We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Adaptive PE Instructor to provide physical education instruction tailored to students with diverse abilities and needs. The instructor will develop and implement inclusive PE programs that promote physical activity, develop motor skills, and foster social interactions among students with disabilities or special needs.
Responsibilities:
- Design and deliver adaptive physical education lessons tailored to individual student needs and abilities.
- Assess students’ physical skills and progress regularly, adjusting activities accordingly.
- Create an inclusive, safe, and supportive environment for all students.
- Collaborate with special education teachers, therapists, parents, and other staff to support student goals.
- Modify standard PE activities to accommodate various disabilities and ensure participation.
- Promote teamwork, sportsmanship, and positive social interactions among students.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and activities.
- Stay informed about best practices and new developments in adaptive physical education.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Adapted Physical Education, Special Education, or related field.
- Certification in Adaptive Physical Education required
- Experience working with students with disabilities or in an inclusive setting.
- Knowledge of adaptive sports, activities, and accommodations.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a strong commitment to student development.
Preferred Skills:
CPR and First Aid certification.
Familiarity with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Ability to modify activities for various disabilities.
