The Technical Product Designer is responsible for translating technical product strategy and user needs into intuitive, effective digital experiences, by designing end-to-end user experiences that align to technical product roadmaps, ensure usability, and drive adoption. Technical Product Designers bridge the gap between an initial idea and the final market launch by building early mock-ups and interactive prototypes to test functionality and gather feedback, prior to technical product teams engaging.


Responsibilities:
  • Creates user-centered designs across the full experience lifecycle from discovery and concepting through detailed interaction design and final delivery.
  • Applies and helps evolve design systems, patterns, and guidelines to ensure consistency and scalability across products.
  • Creates interactive prototypes to test ideas, gather feedback, and iterate rapidly before development.
  • Partners with technical product teams to turn technical product requirements and roadmap priorities into clear, actionable design artifacts (flows, wireframes, prototypes, and high-fidelity UI).
  • Uses insights, user feedback, and data to inform design decisions and continuously improve the experience.

Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in User Experience Design, Human-Computer Interaction, Product Design, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in UX/UI, product, interaction, or digital experience design.
  • Proven experience designing end-to-end digital experiences, including user research, user flows, wireframes, interactive prototypes, and high-fidelity user interfaces.
  • Experience using AI-enabled design, prototyping, and application-building tools (e.g., Figma AI, Adobe Firefly, GitHub Copilot, Cursor, Replit, Lovable, Bolt, v0) to rapidly create, test, and refine digital solutions.
  • Experience building or configuring web experiences in Adobe Experience Manager (AEM) or a comparable enterprise content management or digital experience platform, including content authoring, templates, components, and workflow management.
  • Strong understanding of platform capabilities and constraints, with the ability to determine when business needs can be met through existing functionality versus requiring new components or technical enhancements.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining design systems, component libraries, and UX standards to ensure scalable and consistent user experiences.
  • Strong knowledge of user-centered design, accessibility, usability testing, and data-informed design practices, with excellent collaboration, communication, and problem-solving skills across cross-functional teams.

Hybrid Work Environment

AARP observes Mondays and Fridays as remote workdays, except for essential functions. Remote work can only be done within the United States and its territories.
