Position Summary
The Independent Quality Assurance and Automated Testing Specialist provides independent testing oversight for NIH applications. The specialist validates results produced by development and O&M teams and participates collaboratively in the testing process.
The specialist executes established automated tests, reviews requirements and test artifacts, conducts independent validation, and advises NIH leadership. The position does not duplicate the O&M contractor’s testing staff or create an adversarial IV&V structure.
Primary Responsibilities
- Participate in test planning, requirements reviews, and release-readiness activities.
- Review requirements and acceptance criteria for clarity, completeness, and testability.
- Confirm that test cases trace to approved requirements and business processes.
- Execute established UiPath automated test scripts and procedures.
- Conduct independent functional, integration, regression, system, and release testing.
- Review automated and manual test results produced by development and O&M teams.
- Validate defect corrections and confirm that releases meet approved acceptance criteria.
- Identify testing gaps, untested dependencies, and incomplete coverage.
- Document test results, defects, risks, and recommended corrective actions.
- Confirm that teams maintain current test scripts, test data, and execution procedures.
- Review changes to automated test scripts when applications or business processes change.
- Support peer reviews of requirements, designs, user stories, and test plans.
- Evaluate release packages and provide independent readiness findings.
- Monitor defect status, aging, severity, recurrence, and closure.
- Support testing continuity when other testing resources are unavailable.
- Recommend improvements to test automation, coverage, tools, and procedures.
- Present independent findings to NIH leadership.
- Work collaboratively with Government personnel and contractors while maintaining objective results.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, engineering, business, or a related field.
- At least seven years of software quality assurance or application testing experience.
- At least three years of experience with automated testing.
- Experience executing and maintaining automated functional or regression tests.
- Experience with UiPath Test Suite, UiPath automation, or a comparable automated testing platform.
- Experience testing enterprise business applications.
- Knowledge of functional, integration, regression, system, and release testing.
- Experience reviewing requirements, acceptance criteria, and requirements traceability.
- Experience documenting defects and communicating test results.
- Ability to understand complex business processes and translate them into test conditions.
- Ability to work independently while participating in an integrated testing team.
Preferred Qualifications
- UiPath certification or formal UiPath Test Suite training.
- Experience with Oracle Application Express applications.
- Experience with Oracle-based financial, acquisition, or administrative systems.
- Experience integrating automated tests with CI/CD processes.
- Experience performing independent verification and validation or independent QA.
- Knowledge of Section 508 testing.
- Experience supporting federal or other regulated environments.
- NIH or HHS experience.
Compensation
Salary Range: $125,000 – $145,000 annually (commensurate with experience)
