As a Locum NP/PA in Neurology, you will play a vital role in assessing, diagnosing, and managing patients with a wide range of neurological conditions. Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive neurological assessments and patient evaluations
- Diagnose and manage acute and chronic neurological conditions, including epilepsy, stroke, and migraine disorders
- Develop, implement, and monitor individualized treatment plans
- Order and interpret diagnostic tests, including EEGs, EMGs, and imaging studies
- Prescribe medications and adjust treatment protocols based on patient response
- Collaborate closely with neurologists, nurses, and interdisciplinary care teams
- Provide patient and family education on neurological diagnoses and care plans
- Maintain accurate, timely electronic medical records for all patient encounters
- Participate in patient rounds and clinical case discussions as needed
Requirements
- Current Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician's Assistant (PA) licensure in the state of Virginia
- National board certification as an NP or PA (ANCC, AANP, NCCPA, or equivalent)
- 1+ years of clinical experience, with prior experience in neurology preferred
- Strong clinical assessment, diagnostic, and critical-thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities for patient and team interactions
- Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team
- Current CPR/BLS certification
- Eligibility for hospital credentialing and privileges in the Charlottesville area
- Detail-oriented approach with strong documentation and organizational skills
Schedule: Monday-Friday (8a-4:30p), Saturday (8a-12p)
No call requirement
Duties: Rounding on inpatient unit
EMR: Epic
Support Staff: 1 physician on-site, 1 remote physician
Must be board-certified
Additional Certifications: DEA and BLS
