This on-site, contract position offers a unique opportunity to provide high-quality patient care in a dynamic medical practice environment while enjoying the flexibility that locum tenens work provides.



As a Locum Hospitalist, you will play a critical role in managing inpatient care, coordinating treatment plans, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes. Your expertise in internal medicine will directly contribute to the delivery of compassionate, evidence-based care that our organization is known for. This role is ideal for an associate-level physician seeking to expand their clinical experience in a supportive and fast-paced hospital setting.



Responsibilities



  • Provide comprehensive inpatient medical care for adult patients in a hospital setting
  • Conduct patient admissions, discharges, and daily rounds to assess and manage treatment plans
  • Diagnose and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Collaborate with specialists, nursing staff, and allied health professionals to coordinate patient care
  • Document patient encounters thoroughly and accurately in the electronic medical record (EMR) system
  • Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to hospital protocols and standards
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and provide appropriate interventions
  • Ensure continuity of care through effective handoffs and clear communication with the care team


Requirements



  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school
  • Board certification or board eligibility in Internal Medicine or Hospital Medicine
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in the state of Tennessee (or ability to obtain licensure)
  • Associate-level experience in hospitalist medicine or internal medicine practice
  • Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective patient and team interaction
  • Proficiency in electronic medical records (EMR) systems and clinical documentation
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, on-site hospital environment
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, patient-centered care
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification


Schedule: 6:30p-6:30a



1:10 overnight call rotation



617-bed facility



Closed ICU



Average Daily Census: 250 patients



Average Daily Admits: 38 patients



Duties: Rounding and admits



No procedures required



Support Staff: APPs



Must be board-certified
