This is a contract, full-time position designed for a driven associate-level physician who brings both clinical expertise and a patient-centered approach to a dynamic medical practice environment.



As a Locum Gastroenterologist, you will play a vital role in delivering comprehensive care for patients with digestive and liver disorders. You will have the opportunity to work in a collaborative healthcare setting, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and contributing to the continued excellence of our medical practice. Responsibilities



  • Provide direct patient care in an outpatient and/or inpatient setting, specializing in the diagnosis and treatment of gastrointestinal conditions.
  • Perform and interpret diagnostic procedures, including upper endoscopy (EGD), colonoscopy, and other gastroenterology-related interventions.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient history, exam findings, and diagnostic results.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including surgeons, radiologists, nutritionists, and primary care physicians, to ensure comprehensive patient management.
  • Document patient encounters accurately and efficiently in electronic medical records (EMR) systems.
  • Provide timely consultation and follow-up care, ensuring continuity and high-quality outcomes.
  • Educate patients and their families on disease prevention, treatment options, and lifestyle modifications.
  • Participate in on-call coverage as required, ensuring 24/7 availability for emergency gastrointestinal cases.
  • Adhere to all medical, ethical, and legal standards, including HIPAA and institutional policies.
  • Contribute to quality improvement initiatives and clinical research efforts within the practice.


Requirements



  • Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited medical school.
  • Board certification or active board eligibility in Gastroenterology is required.
  • Active and unrestricted medical license in Missouri, or willingness to obtain licensure prior to start.
  • Completion of an accredited residency in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Gastroenterology.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of clinical experience in gastroenterology, including residency/fellowship experience.
  • Proficiency in endoscopic procedures such as colonoscopy, EGD, and polypectomy; advanced procedures (ERCP, EUS) are a plus.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients, families, and healthcare staff.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team-based care model.
  • Commitment to delivering compassionate, evidence-based, and culturally sensitive care.
  • US work authorization is required; contract and locum experience is preferred but not mandatory.
