This is a contract, on-site position designed for physicians who thrive in fast-paced emergency settings and are committed to delivering high-quality patient care.
As a Locum Emergency Medicine Physician, you will play a vital role in our department, providing immediate medical attention to patients with acute illnesses or injuries. You will work alongside a multidisciplinary team of healthcare professionals, ensuring efficient patient flow, accurate diagnosis, and effective treatment plans. This role is ideal for an associate-level physician looking to expand their clinical experience in a dynamic environment while maintaining flexibility through contract-based work.
Responsibilities
- Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with a wide range of conditions.
- Perform thorough patient assessments, including history taking, physical examinations, and diagnostic test interpretation.
- Develop and implement effective treatment plans, including prescribing medications and coordinating follow-up care.
- Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and other healthcare staff to ensure coordinated and efficient patient management.
- Document patient encounters accurately and in a timely manner, maintaining compliance with medical and legal standards.
- Communicate clearly with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and discharge instructions.
- Respond to emergency situations promptly and make critical decisions under pressure.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement initiatives and stay updated on the latest emergency medicine protocols.
Requirements
- Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution.
- Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine is strongly preferred.
- Valid, unrestricted medical license to practice in the state (or ability to obtain one prior to start).
- Completion of an accredited residency program in Emergency Medicine.
- Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certification.
- Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making skills in high-pressure situations.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with patients and team members.
- Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required in a 24/7 emergency department.
Schedule: Flexible day, night, and swing shifts
