About this role

Harry & David is looking for an experienced Operations Supervisor to lead day-to-day operations within our distribution and production environment. This role is responsible for overseeing labor, materials, product output, safety, quality, customer service, systems, and cost while ensuring operations run safely, efficiently, and accurately each day.

The Operations Supervisor will provide hands-on leadership to associates, drive productivity and continuous improvement, and create an environment where employees are supported, engaged, and able to perform at their best. The ideal candidate is an organized and motivated leader who is comfortable working in a fast-paced operation and balancing people leadership with business results.

What You’ll Do

  • Supervise daily operations within assigned areas of the distribution center or production facility, ensuring safety, quality, productivity, and service expectations are met.
  • Review workload and staffing requirements and appropriately staff shifts while remaining within established budget guidelines.
  • Monitor productivity, labor, and operational costs and take action to ensure performance goals are met or exceeded.
  • Provide hands-on leadership, direction, coaching, and support to employees throughout the shift.
  • Create a positive and respectful work environment that encourages employee engagement, accountability, teamwork, and retention.
  • Coach and develop employees for future growth opportunities and take an active role in building the next generation of operational leaders.
  • Monitor employee performance and prepare and deliver performance improvement plans (PIPs), performance development reviews (PDRs), and ongoing feedback for direct and indirect reports.
  • Support seasonal workforce planning and develop continuous improvement programs and procedures to improve operational performance.
  • Develop, document, and maintain departmental training materials, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and processes.
  • Ensure employees receive appropriate systems training and that required documentation is maintained.
  • Support effective utilization of warehouse and business systems, including SAP.
  • Analyze operational reports and performance data to identify trends, draw conclusions, and recommend improvements.
  • Partner with peer supervisors and cross-functional teams to promote cooperation, consistency, and clear communication across departments.
  • Assist with interviewing and assessing leadership candidates as assigned.
  • Maintain effective two-way communication with employees, peers, and leadership.
  • Support department and company safety and security programs, conduct safety audits, and ensure associates follow established safety practices.
  • Coordinate with Quality Assurance to ensure applicable SQF and FSMA requirements are met.
  • Assist in maintaining the safety and security of the facility.
  • Perform additional duties as needed to support business and operational requirements.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
  • 3–5 years of leadership experience in a warehouse, distribution, production, fulfillment, manufacturing, or similar operational environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, coach, and develop teams.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to influence others, resolve problems, and drive accountability and performance.
  • Experience analyzing reports, identifying trends, and developing recommendations based on operational data.
  • Previous experience with a Warehouse Management System (WMS) and SAP preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with employees, peers, leadership, and cross-functional partners.
  • Strong commitment to workplace safety, quality, customer service, and continuous improvement.
