As a majority owner and operator of the Weyburn EOR Project, annually we safely sequester approximately 1.5 million tonnes of CO2 making it a unique project within our portfolio. We currently employ 1,200 people, including our valued contract staff.

At Whitecap, our corporate culture is entrepreneurial. We strive to create a culture of purpose and integrity where initiative and innovation are encouraged and valued. Our corporate philosophy allows us to develop skills, collaborate alongside our teammates, and ultimately have a fulfilling career.

Purpose:

The Remote Operator Control Room (ROCR) Operator plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the Grande Prairie Area, providing real-time monitoring, analysis, and operational support from the Grande Prairie Office.

This position ensures the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of production operations through effective communication, data management, and collaboration with field and technical teams. Serving as the central point of operational oversight, the ROCR Operator contributes to production optimization and proactive issue management across multiple systems and areas—acting as the eyes and ears of our field operations team.

This role is a 7 on and 7 off day and night shift rotation of 12 hour shifts.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with field teams to reduce downtime and increase production efficiency through effective remote operations and communication.

  • Effectively multitask and prioritize across multiple SCADA systems, production tools, and operational areas while maintaining clear communication with various teams.

  • Monitor and manage SCADA and third-party alarm systems, ensuring timely response, prioritization, and escalation as required.

  • Support the Working Alone Policy and participate in emergency response activities in accordance with company safety standards.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Production, Engineering, and Optimization, to enhance pad and battery performance.

  • Prepare and maintain daily status reports summarizing production activities, operational changes, and performance trends.

  • Identify and report early indicators of production issues, ensuring effective communication and timely resolution.

  • Coordinate and communicate daily with Field Operations, Maintenance, WMS, and Measurement teams to align operational priorities and objectives.

  • Actively support and promote consistent application of company standards, procedures, and best practices.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in oil and gas operations, control room, or production monitoring environments would be considered an asset.

  • Strong working knowledge of SCADA systems, alarm management, and production data tools.

  • Demonstrated ability to analyze operational data, identify trends, and take appropriate action.

  • Solid understanding of field production processes, pad/battery operations, and remote monitoring systems.

  • Excellent communication and coordination skills across multiple departments and teams.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Outlook, Word, Teams).

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.

  • High level of situational awareness and ability to make sound decisions under pressure.

  • Team-oriented mindset with strong interpersonal and collaboration skills.

  • Proactive, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.

  • Commitment to safety, reliability, and continuous improvement.
