POSITION SUMMARY: To help Wheatsville be the Friendliest Store in Town through excellent, friendly and upbeat customer service. Ensure a quick, accurate, and pleasant shopper co-op experience. Educate non-owners about the benefits of joining Wheatsville Co-op, maintain a strong knowledge of store policies and product mix and complete all shift duties.
Front End Duties
Operate a cash register accurately and efficiently
Deliver exceptional customer service
Maintain drawer variance within acceptable standards
Bag groceries and offer carryout assistance proactively
Maintain cleanliness of the register station, parking lot, and carts
Accurately count cash drawer at beginning and end of shift
Memorize PLUs for deli, bulk, and produce items
Educate shoppers about Co-op membership benefits
Attend staff meetings, trainings, and participate in quarterly inventory
TABC certification required
Grocery Duties
Assist with stocking shelves, rotating stock, and facing product
Break down grocery pallets and stock product efficiently
Ensure grocery aisles are clean, well-organized, and fully stocked
Respond to customer questions about grocery items
Monitor product freshness and report spoilage or damaged goods
Assist with periodic grocery inventory counts
Use downtime at Front End to support grocery team as directed
ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Be present and prepared to work at the start of scheduled shifts
Ability to project a friendly, helpful personality to the public
Good communication and receptive to feedback
Accurate cash handling skills and attention to detail
Knowledge of, or ability to quickly learn, universal produce PLUs
TABC certification required
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Prior natural foods, retail, or cashier experience
Prior customer service experience
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
Required frequently: standing for long periods of time, walking, kneeling, squatting, bending, reaching, lifting up to 50 lbs. and occasional environmental exposure to extreme temperatures (coolers & freezers)
