Reports To: Cafeteria Kitchen Manager
Summary: The Cafeteria Server supports daily meal service operations by assisting with food service, serving line setup, sanitation, stocking, and customer service. This position helps create a welcoming, efficient, and positive dining experience for students, staff, and visitors while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, organization, and hospitality. The Cafeteria Server works closely with the Kitchen Manager and cafeteria team to ensure meal service runs smoothly and efficiently.
It is desirable that church employees regularly attend worship services (virtually or physically). By doing so, they will be more in touch with Village Baptist Church’s life, activities, and patterns.
Responsibilities
Serve food to students, staff, and visitors in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner
Assist with setup and preparation of serving lines and meal service areas
Help maintain smooth and efficient meal service throughout lunch periods
Keep serving stations clean, stocked, and organized
Refill food items, beverages, utensils, condiments, and supplies as needed
Follow food safety, sanitation, and personal hygiene standards at all times
Assist with cleanup and resetting of serving and dining areas between lunch periods
Maintain a welcoming and positive atmosphere for students, staff, and visitors
Work collaboratively with the Kitchen Manager and cafeteria team to support daily operations
Assist with food preparation, serving, stocking, dishwashing, cleanup, and other cafeteria responsibilities as needed to support the team
Perform other duties as assigned by the Kitchen Manager or Director of Cafeteria Operations
QualificationsQualifications
Minimum educational requirement: High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience in food service, cafeteria service, customer service, or a related field preferred
Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices
Friendly, positive, and service-oriented attitude
Dependable and punctual
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment
Comfortable interacting with students, staff, and visitors
Strong communication and teamwork skills
Willingness to assist in a variety of cafeteria duties as needed
Must successfully pass all required background screenings for employment in a school setting
Physical Requirements
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
Ability to work in a kitchen environment, including heat, noise, and frequent movement
