SUMMARY Overview of the position

Production Artist (Graphic Requisitions Team) is an intermediate level position; the candidate is expected to possess competent abilities in building ready-for-print files and assembly skills. Will be expected to learn color correction, any skills in this area are a plus. Must possess ability to focus and have a high level of attention to details. Effective communication skills are necessary. There will be interactions between different departments and personnel to achieve a successful project.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The following statements are intended to describe the general nature of the level of work being performed by an individual assigned to this job. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Proficient assembly and understanding of color correction, high volume path creation and/or mask selection capabilities are a big part of our deadline-driven environment.
  • Comprehension of production practices is essential as direction is structurally provided via SOP’s, design mechanicals, written instruction, and department Leads.
  • Unconditional support and adherence of departmental procedures and requirements is mandatory.
  • The ideal candidate will possess print experience. Familiarity with the 4/c process is beneficial, to include, but not limited to: spot colors, varnish, foil, die cuts, deboss and/or embossing.
  • Hands on, energetic and motivated initiative-taker with the ability to work additional hours as required.
  • Achieve the highest possible quality of files produced within lithographic pre-production environment.
  • Accomplished communication skills requested demonstrate close attention to detail with organized practices. Responsible for interacting daily with Production Lead, Project Manager(s), and teammates.
  • Support and adhere to internal Creative Departmental procedures and requirements to include but not limited to, assisting in other areas during production heavy cycles.
  • Proficiency in the following software or systems: Adobe Creative Suite and MS Office.

INTERACTION

This position will interact closely with the Senior Production Artist Requisitions Lead, Senior Production Artists, Project Managers, Photo and Type Editors, colleagues, and other related staff.

EDUCATION/YEARS EXPERIENCE

  • High School Diploma or equivalent. 
  • College Degree with an emphasis in Graphic Arts a plus.
  • 2+ years of experience in Prepress or related area, publishing, or relevant duties.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Present understanding of Prepress and Print Industries’ standards, competent knowledge of established production tolerances. Familiarity with the 4/c process, to include, but not limited to: spot colors, varnish, foil, die cuts, deboss and/or embossing. Thorough understanding of file standards for print production (bleed, trapping, color separation, resolution, etc.).
  • The qualified applicant must possess proficient computer skills; a working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite is required, InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop. Plus, intermediate proficiency in the following software: Microsoft Word, and Excel.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills demonstrate close attention to detail with organized practices. Ability to articulate clearly with internal partners.
  • Effective organizational skills with the ability to oversee multiple, high priority projects with dedicated attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated ability to read, comprehend written instructions, and follow pre-established guidelines.
  • Utilize technology and maximize efficiency: Maintain education and software capabilities.
  • Professional demeanor; team player orientation.
  • Ability to perform duties under minimal supervision while exercising reasonable discretion and independent judgment.
  • Manage time effectively, prioritizing duties and meeting deadlines. Ability to maintain flexible work hours. Work hours are mostly consistent, but production requirements require flexibility and overtime.
