Job Overview: Trace Students Middle School Coordinator
The Middle School Coordinator leads the 6th–8th grade ministry by creating environments where students connect with Jesus, leaders, and community. Partnering with the Student Pastor, this role disciples students, develops leaders, supports parents, and executes ministry programs, camps, and outreach. Responsibilities include building relationships, equipping volunteers, providing pastoral care, and managing administrative tasks, all while helping students take next steps in their faith and advancing the vision of Trace Students and Trace Church.
Core Responsibilities (all in coordination with the Student Pastor and the HS Ministry)
Discipleship & Teaching
Assist the Student Pastor in leading the spiritual development of middle school students through teaching, life groups, and other weekly programming.
Help implement curriculum and content that encourage spiritual, relational, and practical growth.
Participate in planning and leading weekly gatherings, events, camps, retreats, and special programs for MS
Pastoral Care & Relationship Building
Build meaningful, intentional relationships with MS students and their families.
Help create a safe, welcoming environment where students feel known, seen, and loved.
Partner with parents to invest in the spiritual growth of their students.
Leadership Development
Identify, train, encourage, and mentor MS student leaders and adult volunteers.
Equip students to engage in ministry, serve using their gifts, and participate in outreach opportunities.
Team Collaboration
Collaborate closely with the Student Pastor to ensure Trace Students’ programs align with the overall mission, values, and strategy of the ministry.
Work with other Trace ministry teams to help create smooth transitions between life stages (Kids -MS - HS - Young Adults).
Participate in staff meetings, planning sessions, and church-wide events as needed.
Administration
Oversee administrative operations, including Planning Center, volunteer scheduling, registration, and attendance tracking.
Coordinate Middle School events, camps, and special programming logistics.
Maintain accurate records, forms, and documentation for students, families, and volunteers.
Support budget tracking, supply management, and purchasing.
Manage parent communication across email, social media, and other channels.
Develop systems to ensure a healthy, organized, and scalable ministry.
Monitor and report on key ministry metrics (attendance, engagement, etc.).
Outreach & Growth
Create and implement outreach strategies that help students invite friends and connect with their schools and communities.
Build relationships with local middle schools, coaches, teachers, administrators, and community organizations when appropriate.
Lead guest follow-up efforts to help first-time students and families feel welcomed, connected, and engaged.
Equip and encourage students to live on mission by sharing their faith, inviting friends, and serving others.
Assist in planning outreach events, invite nights, school engagement opportunities, and community service projects.
Champion Trace Students' mission of helping every student find purpose through connection by creating pathways for students to belong, believe, build, become, lead, and be sent.
Support and oversee the assimilation process for new students and families, helping them connect into life groups, serving opportunities, and discipleship environments.

Ability to recruit, equip, and lead volunteer teams.
Willingness to work evenings, weekends, camps, retreats, and special events as required.
Ability to collaborate effectively within a team environment while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
Proficiency with basic technology, including Google Workspace, Planning Center, and communication platforms.
Ability to maintain confidentiality, professionalism, and sound judgment in ministry situations.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Ministry, Theology, Leadership, Education, or a related field (or equivalent ministry experience).
1–3 years of experience serving in student ministry, church leadership, education, coaching, or a related field.
Experience teaching or communicating biblical content to students.
Experience leading small groups, mentoring students, and developing volunteer leaders.
Experience planning and executing camps, retreats, outreach events, and large-group programming.
Strong administrative skills with experience managing schedules, registrations, communication, and ministry systems.
Demonstrated ability to create welcoming environments that help students feel known, connected, and valued.
A heart for outreach and a passion for helping students invite friends and engage their schools with the hope of Jesus.
Employment Details
Position Title: Middle School Associate/Coordinator
Reports To: Student Pastor
Employment Type: Full-time/Salary/Exempt
Working Hours: 40+ hours/week
Compensation: $57,800 per year (based on experience and qualifications)
Work Schedule: Sunday – Thursday (Fridays and Saturdays off except for special events)
Vacation: 15 days/year
Sick Leave: Unlimited (tracked)
Ministry Week: 1 week per year serving in an area outside your primary ministry
Medical Benefit: Health Reimbursement Arrangement of $2000 per person in family under 26 years old per year
