Grafted Coffee Shop Coordinator
About the Role
The Grafted Coordinator helps create one of the first and lasting impressions people experience at Heights Church. More than simply serving coffee, this role cultivates a welcoming environment where every guest feels seen, valued, and at home. By leading a thriving serve team, maintaining weekend coffee shop operations, and fostering a culture of genuine hospitality, the Grafted Coordinator creates meaningful opportunities for connection and conversation that support the mission of helping people Encounter Jesus, Engage in Their Faith with Jesus, and Empowered to Serve Jesus
This position combines leadership, hospitality, administration, and operational excellence to ensure that the Grafted Coffee Shop is a warm, inviting space where relationships are built and ministry naturally happens.
Schedule: 5-10 hours a week
- Sunday and a few hours during the week.
What You'll Do
Leadership & Ministry Coordination
- Recruit, train, lead, encourage, and develop the Grafted Coffee Serve Team.
- Build meaningful relationships with serve team members, foster a culture where people feel valued, equipped, and empowered to serve.
- Coordinate and publish monthly serve team schedules while ensuring each drink station is adequately staffed.
- Oversee the weekend operations of the coffee shop, creating a welcoming, organized, and efficient environment.
- Order and maintain drink inventory, supplies, and products while practicing wise stewardship of resources.
- Submit receipts, invoices, purchasing documentation, and petty cash requests to Accounting in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with ministry leaders and other ministries to support church events and special initiatives.
- Help maintain a safe environment for staff, serve team and guests.
- Maintain the cleanliness, appearance, and functionality of the Grafted space, ensuring the environment is welcoming and ready for ministry.
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the supervisor.
Hospitality & Coffee Shop Operations
- Create an engaging atmosphere where every guest feels welcomed, valued, and cared for.
- Greet guests warmly and build lasting relationships with returning customers.
- Prepare and serve quality coffee, espresso beverages, and other menu items with consistency and excellence.
- Learn, maintain, and accurately prepare all drink recipes while developing creative ideas for seasonal beverages and menu offerings.
- Operate espresso machines, point-of-sale systems, and coffee equipment safely and effectively.
- Process customer transactions accurately and efficiently.
- Maintain cleanliness, organization, and sanitation throughout Grafted while ensuring compliance with all health code and food safety standards.
- Continuously grow in coffee, tea, and hospitality knowledge to provide an exceptional guest experience.

Leadership Skills & Requirements
- Barista or coffee shop experience is preferred but not required.
- Excellent communication skills in both individual and group settings.
- A self-starter who takes initiative, works independently, and follows through with excellence.
- Strong organizational and administrative skills with careful attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while remaining calm, flexible, and guest-focused in a fast-paced environment.
- Demonstrated creativity and innovation in enhancing the guest experience.
- Sound judgment, professionalism, and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to work collaboratively across ministry teams while taking ownership of assigned responsibilities.
- Experience operating a point-of-sale system.
- Current Food Manager Certification required or willingness to obtain.
- Desire to continually grow in coffee, tea, and hospitality knowledge.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift and carry up to 30 pounds without assistance.
- Ability to stand for extended periods while frequently bending, reaching, and twisting.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment while maintaining excellent guest service and attention to detail.
Requirements
- Ability to work weekends.
- Flexibility to support evening and weekend ministry events, including Christmas, Easter, and other church-wide gatherings.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and steward sensitive information with the utmost care.
- Ability to work independently while remaining highly collaborative in a dynamic, fast-paced ministry environment.
