About the Role
Do you enjoy working in a hands-on environment and have an interest in textiles or fashion?
We're looking for reliable Casual Warehouse Assistants to join our Head Office & Online team in Auckland.
This is a casual role, with hours varying depending on shipment arrivals, online order volumes, promotional periods and operational requirements. You'll be supporting both our Warehouse and Online teams with the day-to-day processing and dispatch of fabric to our retail stores and customers throughout New Zealand and Australia.
Previous warehouse or online fulfilment experience is an advantage; however, we're equally interested in people who are reliable, enjoy working as part of a team and have a good eye for detail.
This is an entry-level role and would suit someone with an interest in the textile or fashion industry, or someone who already has experience working with fashion fabrics. A good working knowledge of textiles and fashion fabrics is highly desirable.
Key Responsibilities
Picking, cutting, packing and dispatching online customer orders.
Preparing and dispatching stock to our retail stores.
Receiving and processing incoming fabric deliveries.
Organising and replenishing warehouse stock.
Assisting with online order fulfilment during busy trading periods.
Supporting general warehouse and operational duties as required.
Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work environment.
Requirements
Previous warehouse, pick-and-pack or online fulfilment experience (an advantage).
A good working knowledge of textiles and fashion fabrics.
Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
Strong time management and organisational skills.
A positive attitude and willingness to learn.
Good communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Physical fitness, with the ability to safely lift and move fabric rolls.
A full New Zealand driver's licence would be an advantage.
Please submit your resume and a cover letter outlining your relevant experience and why you are interested in joining our HQ team. Please ensure you have a valid work visa before applying for this role.

A curated range of designer ends, mill overruns & exclusive fabrics for the creative community.
New Zealand · Australia · Online
The Fabric Store is a destination point for the sewing and creative community, offering a curated range of designer dress fabrics and mill overruns coupled with an exceptional in-store experience and dedicated, passionate service.
Each of our stores offer an extensive range of fabrics, with a strong focus on natural fibres, including silk crepe de chines, chiffons, satins and georgettes, as well as a variety of merino jerseys, woollen suitings and coatings, cottons, linens and rayons plus specialty pieces like jacquards, brocades, laces and leather hides. We also stock a large range of Liberty of London Art Fabrics including Tana Lawn, Lantana, Rossmore Cord, Clifton Jersey and Bloomsbury Silk Crinkle Chiffon.
The majority of the fabrics we source are deadstock, which means that they are end-of-line, mill overruns, cancelled orders or designer excess fabrics. These are fabrics that are deemed a waste product in the fashion industry and would often otherwise end up as landfill. Over the years we have formed relationships with some of the best designer suppliers, both internationally and locally, in order to bring you an amazing and unique range of stock without the waste and ethical implications of mass manufacture.
The Fabric Store was first established in 1995 in New Zealand as Global Fabrics with flagship stores in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch and Dunedin. Our first Australian store opened in Surry Hills, Sydney in 2008 followed by stores in Fitzroy, Melbourne and Fortitude Valley, Brisbane in 2010 and 2011 respectively. Our International Online Store was established in 2016.
