Full job description
Senior Software Engineer
Department: Engineering
Employment Type: Full Time
Location: London
Reporting To: David Williams (CTO)
Compensation: £80,000 - £120,000 / year
Description
We believe that building software is more about people, team culture and end-user needs than it is about algorithms, data structures, and the choice of technologies. We're looking for somebody who is ambitious and is genuinely excited about what well-built software, supported by AI agents, can achieve in the complex space we work in.
Thalamos operates a series of products which, when combined, offer unified workflows across the NHS, social care, police and wider organisations to support those subject to the Mental Health Act. Together, these products support assessment, care and treatment in complex environments, while generating rich pathway data across a region. We want to leverage this infrastructure to expand the number of patients we can help when organisations can join up effectively and frontline staff are supported to work efficiently.
Key Responsibilities
Full-stack development of the Thalamos solution (Typescript, Postgres, React, AWS/Terraform)
Working with the Product and Client Teams to help refine and iterate upcoming features from a technical perspective.
Participating in development meetings and ceremonies to help the team improve on its process, and plan / estimate work.
Driving the design of the application and cloud architecture of Thalamos products.
We'd love to hear from you if...
You know what good code looks like, and work to ensure you and your team can produce high-quality software.
You believe that writing tests is a key part of writing good software
You believe that technology can improve the lives and experiences of patients, and are willing to overcome barriers to achieve that.
You thrive in an agile-delivery environment which has a strong focus on the product you’re building and the stakeholders who work with it
You have experience working in a regulated industry
You are comfortable with infrastructure, integrations, and interoperability
Benefits
Free lunch 2 days a week
Regular socials
22 days holiday, plus bank holidays, plus your birthday and 3 days between Christmas & New Year
Discretionary bonus dependent on role and salary
Learning and Development Programme
4% company pension contribution for qualifying earnings

Thalamos applies technology to make mental healthcare more human.
We help the organisations and professionals involved in mental healthcare work better together, creating safer, more connected experiences for the people they support.
Our technology digitises and connects critical mental health processes, replacing fragmented, paper-based ways of working with secure digital pathways that improve communication, coordination and oversight. By bringing together healthcare providers, local authorities, police forces, independent practitioners and other partners, we help reduce delays, improve safety and enable better decision-making across the system.
Thalamos supports organisations across the UK, including the Metropolitan Police Service, British Transport Police, South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust, East London NHS Foundation Trust, Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust and the wider OneLondon partnership.
As demand continues to grow and mental health services face increasing pressure, our mission remains simple: to make access to, receipt of and discharge from mental healthcare swifter, simpler and safer.
