Reporting to the Health and Safety Manager – Construction and Operations, the WHS Advisor (UWF) is responsible for providing safety advice, investigation and safety audit services across SQE construction sites. The role will work collaboratively with internal customers and external service providers to ensure the conformance with legal and contractual requirements and evaluates operational compliance with approved safety management systems.
This role may involve travel to other office locations and sites to engage and liaise with broader Squadron Energy (SQE) teams and relevant stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Provide advice and support to SQE’s management, employees, and contractors on the effective management of operational health and safety matters on Construction Projects.
Undertake safety system and performance auditing of construction contract service providers in consultation with project managers, site representatives and the Health and Safety Manager.
Support the Project Manager with investigations of safety incidents as required.
Monitor and report operational safety performance on construction projects to management, employees, and contractors to create awareness and improve overall behaviours.
Undertake industry specific research to maintain knowledge in health and safety best practice.
Work closely with the Project Manager to provide ongoing process and system improvements on construction projects to ensure quality health and safety outcomes.
Lead by example by role modelling the Safety-First culture, demonstrating personal accountability for self-development and achieving quality and timely results.
Inspire and champion change, challenge the status quo and set the example for achieving high performance outcomes on construction projects.
Build and maintain effective and collaborative relationships with key internal and external stakeholders at all levels to foster strong awareness and commitment towards safety on construction projects.
Carry out the duties of the role in a professional and ethical manner and in accordance with SQE's values, Code of Conduct and any other relevant policies.
Perform other duties, commensurate with skills and experience as requested.
General Responsibilities
Work health and safety compliance
Comply with all workplace health and safety obligations and report any incidents, hazards and accidents to the safety team.
Administration
Ensure all documentation is stored and recorded on the Squadron Energy document management system.
Reporting
Ensure that issues and risks are escalated/reported to management in a timely manner.
Financial
Adhere to Squadron Energy and project procedures for purchasing and expenditure in compliance with approved budgets.
Stakeholders
Maintain a professional relationship with all project Stakeholders.
Company
Ensure that all work is carried out in accordance with Squadron Energy's employee policies and standards.
Skills and experience
Experience and knowledge
Demonstrated functional construction experience in a similar field health and safety role (approximately 5+ years).
Ability to maintain effective and collaborative relationships across diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated experience in the application of relevant legislation governing safety management of construction/high-risk activities.
Demonstrated ability and experience in providing advice within construction, electricity, manufacturing or similar industries.
Demonstrated experience and skills in auditing and investigation.
Proven ability to exercise independent judgement and problem solving with the ability to resolve and address issues as they arise.
Demonstrated positive and flexible attitude with a willingness to take on a wide range of diverse tasks and adjust to competing priorities.

Qualifications
Diploma in Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent.
Registered Auditor - Safety Management Systems (Desirable).
ICAM or equivalent investigation qualification or experience.
White card.
Driver's licence.
