The purpose of the Student Account Specialist is to assist students in understanding their account balances, transactions, and clearly communicate deadlines and payment expectations. They also receive and process all payments made to the seminary by students and employees.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist students in understanding and utilizing the Monthly Tuition Payment Plan.
Assist students with an overall understanding of their student account.
Process payment transactions.
Receive money from students and employees.
Document and take notes on student accounts.
Maintain current student files in the Office of Accounting Services and communicate important notes to Manager and Director.
Answer telephones, answer e-mails, and assist in any other capacity.
Handle Petty Cash transactions and check refund distributions.
OTHER DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Assist the Accounting Manager with any items that need to be completed related to student accounts or office function and proficiency.
Help process the Monthly Tuition Payment Plans and verify accuracy of payment plan with student account activity.
Help maintain office order and functionality.
Perform filing duties.

Possess computer skills related to the accounting software, Microsoft Office & Excel, and other current applications.
FISCAL RESPONSIBILITY
There is no fiscal decision-making related to the Cashier. The Cashier is to receive and process payments and accurately maintain a cash drawer.
EXTENT OF PUBLIC CONTACT
There is a large volume of students and school staff that are served on a daily basis.
This position is the first place many visitors and guests will come into contact with Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary. Therefore, it should be important that the Cashier receives guests and visitors with the utmost of respect and pleasantry.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Normal fitness for general office duties required.
WORKING CONDITIONS AND ENVIRONMENT
There are no unusual work hours or travel required.
