The Fulfillment Associate supports Schmitt Music’s order fulfillment operations by accurately picking, staging, and preparing merchandise to meet the needs of retail stores, Educational Representatives, e-commerce orders, and internal transfers.
This role plays an important part in ensuring the right products are in the right place at the right time. The Fulfillment Associate works closely with the Lead Fulfillment and other warehouse team members to support efficient workflows, inventory accuracy, and a high level of service for both internal and external customers.
Position must be available to work through mid-October.

Key Roles and Responsibilities
Pick and pull student-level band and orchestra instruments to support school demand, ensuring instruments are properly accessorized, staged, and stored for Educational Representatives, stores, and school-related fulfillment needs.
Pick merchandise accurately and efficiently for all outbound order channels, including e-commerce orders, store requests, Educational Representative requests, and store replenishment transfers.
Stage completed orders in designated outbound areas to support efficient handoff to the Shipping & Receiving team.
Fulfill retail store replenishment orders based on Min–Max reports and internal inventory requests to help ensure stores have the inventory needed to serve customers.
Pick and stage band, orchestra, piano, and accessory inventory transfers while ensuring careful handling of fragile and high-value instruments.
Verify product quantities, item numbers, and documentation before orders are staged for shipment.
Maintain organized picking locations and ensure inventory is stored accurately within designated warehouse locations to support efficient order fulfillment.
Communicate product shortages, discrepancies, damaged merchandise, or fulfillment delays to the Lead Fulfillment or other appropriate operational leadership.
Assist with cycle counts, inventory verification, and location checks to support overall inventory accuracy within the warehouse.
Follow standard work procedures and quality expectations for picking, staging, and handling merchandise.
Support continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to improve fulfillment speed, reduce errors, and maintain organized workflows.
Demonstrate flexibility and a strong team spirit by supporting other warehouse functions when seasonal demand or business priorities require additional help.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or GED.
Knowledge of basic warehouse operations and material handling.
Strong work ethic and reliability.
Ability to prioritize work under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Valid Driver’s License and ability to pass a background check.
Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in warehouse, fulfillment, retail distribution, or order processing.
Experience with warehouse management systems, inventory software, or handheld scanners.
Experience handling fragile or high-value merchandise.
Forklift certification or experience preferred.
Work Environment & Expectations
This position is based onsite in Bloomington, MN and requires regular work within a warehouse environment. Team members in this role are expected to be actively engaged in daily warehouse operations, including hands-on participation in picking, staging, inventory support, and other operational tasks as needed.
Warehouse work involves standing, walking, lifting, and moving merchandise throughout the facility. Team members must be able to safely lift and move products weighing up to 50 pounds and operate warehouse equipment as trained.
Schmitt Music operates a seasonal business, and operational demands increase during peak periods. Team members in this role are expected to demonstrate flexibility and a strong team mindset during busy seasons to ensure operational success and excellent service to both internal and external customers.
This role requires consistent collaboration with other warehouse teams and operational departments, including fulfillment, shipping and receiving, inventory control, transportation, and store operations.
