Overview

Pay: $25 - $33

 

Summary:

The Technician II will perform intermediate level repair and maintenance of company tractors and equipment through proper diagnostics, troubleshooting, and use of hand tools. This position will use precision measuring instruments and machine tools with minimum assistance. The Technician II is directed by others with general supervision and must be

provide their own tools.

 

Principal Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Rebuild and refurbish equipment as specified
  • Perform preventive maintenance inspections as specified, using mechanics hand tools and variety of shop equipment, which may include refrigeration, hydraulic jacks or hoist, welding and air pressure equipment, and other equipment as necessary
  • Diagnose mechanical problems and perform mechanical repairs and adjustments: PTO, hydraulics, emissions, air conditioning/heating, cab, instruments, brakes, frame, steering, suspension, tires, wheels, drive train, electrical system, engine system, and other components which may need repair with assistance
  • Complete work orders, charge parts, charge labor, and other required documents using computer, manuals, parts book, and maintenance codes
  • Wash equipment as needed
  • Drive service vehicle to pick up parts from outside vendors
  • Drive vehicles within company property
  • Attend all safety required meetings and perform all work as per OSHA, State and Federal guidelines
  • May assist in communication with outside vendors, customers, and management to ensure proper workflow, sourcing of outside parts/labor estimates, and status of units within the shop
  • Operate a variety of stationary and portable power tools common to mechanics such as drill presses, grinders, impact wrenches, welders, torches
  • Open/close various types of truck hoods
  • Sweep, mop and pick up trash/debris and dispose in dumpster
  • Yard maintenance such as mowing yard, snow removal, etc.
  • Operate pressure washer hoses and utilize long handled brush

Global Responsibilities:

  • Regular attendance and physical presence at work is an essential function of this position
  • This job may require additional duties not listed above and the employee may be asked to perform those duties to meet business needs

Qualifications:

Education/Specialized Knowledge/Professional Certifications:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Associate, Vocational, or Technical Degree or equivalent work experience required
  • DOT brake certification and 1 year DOT inspections required (prior military must obtain within 3 months of employment)
  • Fundamental knowledge and understanding of the following areas: Diesel engine repair, CNG engine repair, drive train, brakes, suspension, and steering, electrical and electrical systems, HVAC, medium and heavy-duty trick PMI, and emission and after treatment

Experience:

  • 3 – 5 years relevant experience
  • Demonstrated competency of mechanical experience working on a variety of tractors in medium and heavy equipment applications required
  • Minimum 1 year DOT inspections required

Skills/Abilities:

  • Must be able to commit to Revitalize Mixers value statement
  • Ability to meet behavioral expectations and perform in alignment with Revitalize Mixers guiding principles: Safety, People, Relationship, Performance, and Quality
  • Possess an understanding of service manuals (paper and on-line) for reference, procedures, wiring schematics and torque specs
  • Proficient in using volt/ohm meter and reading schematics to make proper electrical diagnostics and repair
  • Ability to use diagnostic computer or read and clear fault codes and diagnose and make efficient repairs following troubleshooting trees
  • Positive work attitude and ability to work closely with other technicians, drivers, management, and vendors to solve problems efficiently

Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to perform job functions under extreme weather conditions and temperatures
  • Must have manual dexterity and physical agility to be able to spend long hours working beneath a vehicle and lying or standing in awkward positions
  • Work setting in an automotive garage
  • Potential hazards include dust, diesel, fumes, solvents, oil spills, and electrical equipment within OSHA regulations
  • Wearing proper safety equipment is a shop requirement

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to access all areas of truck and assume various positions in which to perform work
  • Forward bending and/or standing
  • Reach up to 24” horizontally at a height of 44” and pull with a force of 100lb
  • Pushing/pulling vertically at a height of 47” with a force of 55-100lb
  • Kneeling/crouching indoors on a smooth surface
  • Lying supine on a creeper to access all areas of truck, trailer and tanker and assume various positions
  • Pulling vertically at a height of 80” with a force of 15lb
  • Crawling indoors on a smooth surface for 10ft
  • Manually transport heavy truck parts (35lbs to 95lbs) to and from the work area
  • Front carry up to 95lb for 25ft
  • Right and left-hand coordination
  • Utilize a variety of hand tools including wrenches, pliers, screwdrivers, and pry bars with right and left-hand grip with a force of 80lb
  • Pushing/pulling horizontally and vertically at a self-selected height with a force of 100lb
