Full job description
At Chesterfield Vets for Pets, we believe our reception team is the heart of the practice.
worried about a much-loved pet, and the last person they see before they leave. That means this role is about far more than answering the phone or booking appointments.
We’re looking for someone who is warm, organised, professional and genuinely enjoys helping people. Someone who can make every client feel welcome, remain calm during busy periods and become an important part of our close-knit team.
About the role

Answering telephone enquiries
Booking appointments and managing the appointment diary

This is a front-of-house receptionrole. You’ll be the face of the practice and play a key role in creating an exceptional experience for every client.
What we’re looking for

Friendly, approachable and professional
An excellent communicator
Calm under pressure
Organised with great attention to detail
Confident using computer systems
Able to prioritise and multitask in a busy environment
A genuine team player
Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who enjoys working with people and understands that great customer service comes from empathy, kindness and excellent communication.
Why join us?
We’re proud of the culture we’ve built.
We’re a supportive, collaborative team who genuinely enjoy working together. We don’t believe in hierarchy or unnecessary pressure—we believe in helping each other and creating an environment where everyone feels valued.
Our clients know us as a friendly, welcoming practice, and we’re looking for someone who shares those values.
We also offer:
Protected lunch break every day (the practice closes for one hour)
A supportive and experienced team
Opportunities for training and development
A genuinely flexible and understanding employer
Dogs are welcome at work
Easy parking
A practice on the edge of the Peak District with excellent links to the M1 and East Midlands Airport
We’re proudly inclusive and value diversity across our team.
We’re working towards our Autism Friendly Award and recognise that people work in different ways. We actively support that.
