The Cost Accountant provides detailed cost information and analyzes business activities such as raw material purchases, inventory, and labor. They prepare periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs to help management determine product profitability.
An associate degree is required, though a bachelor's degree is preferred, along with 4 years of directly related experience. Candidates must possess medium-level Excel skills and the ability to work under pressure and deadlines.

They maintain the chart of accounts, general ledger and all subsidiary ledgers. They process accounts receivables and accounts payable as well as maintain lists of authorized vendors. The accounting group works directly with the external auditors and financial reporting to ensure GAAP and SEC compliance.
The Cost Accountant is a non-degreed accountant (although accounting degree preferred) supporting the operations with transactional accounting processing and coordination of initiatives supporting plant operations. This role works independently executing process steps, conducting analysis, problem solving and delivering recommendations. Pay based on education and experience.
