Position Summary
Reporting to the Chief of Staff, the Cleaner will be responsible for ensuring the cleanliness and upkeep throughout the main office building and designated office areas within the yard. This role focuses on maintaining office spaces, lunchrooms, kitchens, common areas, meeting rooms, washrooms, and other administrative spaces. The Cleaner plays an important role in supporting a professional and welcoming environment for employees, visitors, contractors, and clients by ensuring all areas are consistently maintained to a high standard of cleanliness and presentation.
Key Responsibilities
- Strict adherence to safety protocols and guidelines for operational safety.
- Clean, stock, and supply designated office areas, including dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, and washroom cleaning, ensuring a sanitary environment.
- Disinfect frequently touched surfaces and shared spaces, scrub and sanitize washroom facilities and restock supplies such as soap, toilet paper, and paper towels.
- Perform routine inspections and document cleaning activities while ensuring compliance with quality standards, and health and safety regulations.
- Identify and report any facility concerns or repair needs to the Administrative Assistant.
- Respond to spills and cleaning-related issues promptly, reporting any hazards, damages, or concerns that require further attention.
- Empty garbage and recycling bins throughout office areas and ensure waste is disposed of properly.
- Maintain the office spaces used by visitors, contractors, and clients.
- Work closely with the Administrative Assistant to ensure office facilities are maintained to organizational standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested to support operations.
Qualifications & Experience
- A true passion for cleanliness and a strong work ethic.
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and adherence to all health and safety procedures and protocols.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous experience in cleaning, janitorial, or custodial role considered an asset.
- Knowledge of cleaning products, chemicals, equipment, and safe cleaning procedures.
- WHMIS certification is considered an asset.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high standard of cleanliness and organization.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to follow instructions and work independently.
- Reliable, dependable, and able to manage time effectively to complete assigned tasks.
