The Security Officer is responsible for the safety and security of MART property and patrons through an 'observe and report' approach. Key duties include patrolling facilities, monitoring CCTV, and liaising with local police departments.
Candidates must have a High School Diploma or GED and a valid Driver's License. Experience in security or law enforcement and knowledge of de-escalation techniques are preferred.
The position’s primary responsibility is the safety and security of the MART property and the patrons of the facilities. The Security Officer position is an 'observe and report' role. Security Officers do not possess law enforcement authority and shall not engage in law enforcement activities except as permitted by law and MART policy. The position will liaison with local police departments in towns where MART has a physical building presence to bolster the security at sites to provide a safe and secure experience for employees, contractors, commuters, and the general public.

The Montachusett Regional Transit Authority (MART) is one of Massachusetts’ 15 regional transit authorities. MART is located in North Central Massachusetts and encompasses parts of Northern Worcester and Western Middlesex Counties. MART was created pursuant to Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 161B, in August of 1978. ‘MART’ provides public transportation to 25 area cities and towns. They include the cities of Fitchburg, Gardner, and Leominster and the towns of Ashburnham, Ashby, Athol, Ayer, Barre, Bolton, Boxborough, Hardwick, Harvard, Hubbardston, Lancaster, Littleton, Lunenburg, Phillipston, Royalston, Shirley, Sterling, Stow, Templeton, Townsend, Westminster, and Winchendon. We work with the local communities within the region to offer attractive options to travel with MART. Bus fare discounts are provided to the elderly, disabled, veterans, and students.
