This defining purpose drives us to deliver for our communities, investors, and the environment.

We are a long-standing certified B-Corporation and recognised as gold standard for our environmental impact. We develop, build, and operate utility-scale solar, onshore wind, and battery storage projects across the UK and Europe, supporting the world’s move to an energy system powered by renewables.

CVC DIF, the infrastructure strategy of leading global private markets manager CVC, is the majority shareholder in Low Carbon. Working alongside MassMutual, CVC DIF will enable Low Carbon to significantly expand its installed capacity and drive the next stage of growth as a diversified, leading next-generation IPP.

Role Description

We are looking for an experienced solar professional to join our UK Operations and Maintenance team as a Site Technician.

The role involves carrying out preventative and reactive maintenance across our UK Solar PV and BESS portfolio. Reporting to the O&M Manager and working closely with the wider O&M team, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of our assets.

This role is based across Buckingham, Oxford, Northamptonshire and Berkshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out preventative maintenance activities and deliver maintenance programmes to ensure installations operate at peak performance
  • Identify, locate and respond to fault situations
  • Understand the contractual requirements for each site to support effective management
  • Support plant monitoring and performance analysis in collaboration with the monitoring team
  • Ensure compliance with legislation, company policies and health and safety requirements
  • Carry out due diligence site and paperwork inspections
  • Manage stock and materials
  • Assist with system upgrade works
  • Undertake relevant training and development
  • Supervise and manage contractors where required
  • Participate in weekend on-call duties on a rota basis (1 in 4 weekends)

Skills & Experience

Prospective candidates should be qualified in an engineering discipline or able to demonstrate equivalent experience, hold an Electrical Installation qualification to Level 3 City & Guilds or NVQ equivalent, or possess an equivalent electronics qualification. Candidates should also hold BS7671 Wiring Regulations 18th Edition and have a sound working knowledge of the regulations.

A City & Guilds Inspection and Testing qualification to Level 3 is desirable. Candidates should also be able to provide evidence of the following:

  • At least three years’ experience in the electricity industry, with a demonstrable track record of supporting the performance of operational assets and a strong technical understanding of electricity generation, particularly solar park technology
  • Competence in working with quality standards, best practice procedures, technical specifications and regulatory requirements
  • A self-starter with a passion for the renewable energy industry, a drive for success, and the confidence to challenge the status quo in order to maximise asset performance safely and effectively
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport quickly and develop effective working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders, including OEMs and contractors
  • High Voltage Authorised Person or Senior Authorised Person qualifications are desirable
  • Experience with Solar PV inverters is desirable

Our Compensation & Benefits

  • 26 days holiday plus your birthday off (with option to buy a further 5 days)
  • Discretionary Bonus
  • Bupa Health Check & Private Healthcare for you and your family (medical history disregarded)
  • Contributory Pension
  • Cycle scheme
  • Season Ticket Loan
  • Pluxee for commercial discounts and perks
  • 3 additional days for volunteering to support causes of your choice

We’re committed to building an inclusive team and we welcome applicants from all backgrounds and experiences. If you don’t meet every requirement listed, but you believe you can succeed in this role, we encourage you to apply. We’re also happy to make reasonable adjustments throughout the recruitment process.
