Position Expectations:
The Solar Program Trainer is responsible for teaching the designated curriculum to learners in GINM’s classroom and training lab. This position plays an essential role in ensuring course content is delivered at a consistently high quality that maximizes learner understanding, as well as their potential for obtaining employment. This position also assists in community engagement and education about the program as well as recruitment and job placement activities.
Essential Duties:
Adhere to the attendance and punctuality policies of Goodwill.
Assist with Implementing the program curriculum, lesson plans, training calendars, and activities in line with content and standards. This includes set up and maintenance of the training classroom, training lab, and training equipment.
Support the Clean Tech Trainer Program Manager in delivering curriculum ensuring participants achieve learning outcomes.
Contributes to department effectiveness by identifying short-term and long-term issues and recommending solutions.
Maintains excellent communication across all levels of management.
Assist the Clean Tech Trainer Program Manager in teaching and supervising the necessary safety procedures for use and handling of equipment & tools.
Teach appropriate handling of construction problems arising at the building site through demonstration and modeling skills.
Provide on the job training supervision for learners on customer installations.
Complete learner progress and other documentation as assigned.
Ensure learners’ compliance with attendance and other program policies.
Stays current and in compliance with industry training requirements and certifications as required by GINM, Goodwill Industries International or grant providers.
Assist with recruitment and job placement activities.
Engages in community events to aid in education about the Clean Tech program.
Build and maintain lab equipment.
Ensure HIPAA compliance & maintains confidentiality of privileged information.
Implement CARF standards into all programs and follow professional ethics as set in the Code of Conduct/Business Ethics Policy.
Perform other incidental and related duties as required and assigned.
Requirements
Ability to learn, teach, and facilitate technical subjects related to HVAC, heat pump installation, clean technology, construction practices, safety procedures, and related industry standards.
Training and instructional skills, including classroom facilitation, demonstration, coaching, mentoring, and supporting adult learners in classroom, laboratory, and field environments.
Ability to motivate, lead, and effectively manage a classroom while engaging diverse populations and adapting training techniques to various learning styles.
Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across all organizational levels.
Knowledge of OSHA regulations and workplace safety practices applicable to training, construction, and installation environments.
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills with the ability to identify issues, develop solutions, and implement effective recommendations.
Technical aptitude for maintaining, troubleshooting, and operating training equipment, tools, and related systems.
Organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and responsibilities effectively.
Continuous learning mindset with a commitment to maintaining required certifications, staying current with industry knowledge, and supporting workforce development initiatives.
Enthusiasm, adaptability, and a positive attitude toward developing a diverse and skilled clean technology workforce.
Physical Demands & Work Environment:
The employee is regularly required to use hands, fingers, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and see, talk and hear. Frequently required to sit, walk, and stand. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl and lift/move up to 25 lbs. May be exposed to outside weather conditions. Mental demands are characteristic of support function jobs. Specific vision abilities include color vision, depth perception, distance vision, and peripheral vision.
Minimum Qualifications:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills, and or abilities required for the position. Individuals must be able to pass a criminal background check, and drug test. Individuals must have a valid New Mexico driver’s license, liability insurance, insurability under the agency insurance carrier, a dependable vehicle and a clean driving record.
A minimum of three years’ experience in solar installation or related construction experience preferred
1 or more years assisting individuals with diverse backgrounds in developing a variety of personal, professional skills and experience
