Full job description

The Sales & Project Manager is a high-impact, client-facing leader responsible for growing profitable business, developing trusted customer relationships, and guiding complex capital equipment and systems integration projects from opportunity development through installation and start-up. This role combines technical sales, solution development, commercial leadership, and hands-on project execution.

The ideal candidate brings a strong technical foundation, a consultative sales approach, disciplined project management practices, and the ability to lead cross-functional teams in a fast-moving manufacturing and field installation environment. GENESYS expects this individual to strengthen our market presence by combining their reputation, relationships, and industry knowledge with GENESYS capabilities and delivery excellence.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop, retain, and grow strategic accounts while identifying and qualifying new business opportunities aligned with GENESYS capabilities and profitability objectives.
  • Build trusted relationships with customer stakeholders, vendors, subcontractors, and internal teams through clear communication, follow-through, technical credibility, and sound commercial judgment.
  • Lead development of project scope, budget, schedule, commercial assumptions, risk profile, and execution strategy for custom automation, capital equipment, and systems integration opportunities.
  • Translate customer needs and production challenges into practical, value-based solutions that improve safety, efficiency, quality, uptime, and return on investment.
  • Provide leadership on both technical and commercial matters, balancing customer requirements, company goals, project risk, and long-term account value.
  • Operate with autonomy and accountability, balancing office, customer site, and field responsibilities to maximize ROI for GENESYS and ensure successful project outcomes.

Project Management & Execution

  • Manage assigned projects from concept through engineering, procurement, manufacturing, installation, commissioning, start-up, closeout, and lessons learned.
  • Create, maintain, and communicate project schedules, milestones, budgets, forecasts, change orders, and financial projections with timely updates to senior leadership.
  • Lead customer interface meetings, construction coordination meetings, design reviews, schedule reviews, and project status discussions before and during installation activities.
  • Coordinate engineering, fabrication, manufacturing, subcontractors, vendors, field crews, and customer resources to ensure alignment on scope, schedule, cost, quality, and safety.
  • Proactively identify, escalate, and mitigate project risks, including scope gaps, schedule constraints, field conflicts, technical issues, cost exposure, and customer-driven changes.
  • Support field execution during critical windows, including availability during off-peak hours, nights, weekends, or holidays when required for project success.
  • Facilitate project closeout, lessons-learned meetings, and process improvement actions that strengthen future estimates, execution plans, customer experience, and profitability.

Leadership, Safety, & Culture

  • Lead, mentor, and develop team members by setting clear expectations, removing roadblocks, encouraging accountability, and modeling professional ownership.
  • Make company goals your own and create a shared sense of purpose among project teams, customers, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a visible and consistent commitment to safety; hold yourself and others accountable to GENESYS and customer safety standards.
  • Actively participate in design reviews, SPAs, JHAs, field audits, incident reporting, and corrective action follow-up to protect people, property, and the environment.
  • Promote a collaborative, high-trust culture grounded in integrity, accountability, open communication, continuous improvement, and respect for people.

What Makes You A Great Fit

  • You are commercially sharp, technically credible, and comfortable leading complex discussions with executives, plant leaders, engineers, operators, trades, and purchasing teams.
  • You drive results through strategic thinking, disciplined planning, smart negotiation, proactive problem-solving, and practical decision-making under pressure.
  • You communicate complex technical concepts clearly and tailor your message to the audience without losing accuracy or urgency.
  • You thrive in a role that blends business development, account management, project leadership, field coordination, and team mentorship.
  • You value safety as non-negotiable and understand that strong safety performance is inseparable from operational excellence.
  • You embrace change, challenge processes constructively, and consistently look for ways to improve customer outcomes and internal execution.

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing, Construction Management, Business Administration, or a related technical or business field preferred.
  • Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, especially for candidates with proven success in technical project management, capital equipment sales, automation, construction, manufacturing, or systems integration.
  • Experience leading projects involving custom equipment, industrial automation, manufacturing systems, field installation, or turnkey production solutions strongly preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgets, schedules, subcontractors, vendors, customer expectations, financial forecasts, change orders, and project risk.
  • Advanced certifications such as PMP, CAPM, technical sales training, safety training, or comparable professional development are a plus but not required.

What We Offer

  • Competitive salary based on experience and qualifications
  • Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability (STD/LTD), and Life Insurance (Voluntary Critical and Accidental Insurance)
  • 401(k)
  • Paid Time Off
  • Support for continuing education and professional development
  • Exposure to complex, large-scale projects, advanced manufacturing environments, and industry-leading engineering and skilled trades teams.
  • Collaborative, innovative work environment within a growing company that values accountability, technical excellence, safety, and client success.
