Full job description

About the Role

We're looking for a commercially minded Business Development Executive to help grow Delib's presence across Australia and the wider APAC region.

This is a target-driven role suited to someone who enjoys building relationships, creating opportunities, and owning the full front-end of the sales process. Unlike a traditional SDR or Lead Generation role, you'll be responsible not only for identifying and engaging prospective customers but also for progressing opportunities, leading commercial conversations, and helping convert interest into long-term customer relationships.

You'll focus primarily on the Australian public sector, with an initial emphasis on Western Australia, while supporting growth opportunities across the broader APAC region. Success requires curiosity, strong commercial instincts, and the ability to build credibility with senior stakeholders within government and publicly accountable organisations.

This is a fully remote position and can be based anywhere in Australia. While most engagement will take place virtually, there will be opportunities for travel to customer meetings, industry events, and team gatherings.

What You'll Be Doing

Driving New Business Growth

  • Identifying, researching, and prioritising target organisations across Australia and APAC

  • Building and executing outbound sales campaigns through email, LinkedIn, phone, events, and networking activities

  • Creating your own outreach strategies and messaging, tailored to customer needs and market conditions

  • Generating, qualifying, and progressing opportunities through the sales pipeline

  • Booking and leading discovery conversations, demonstrations, and commercial discussions

  • Building relationships with senior decision-makers across government, regulatory, health, and public sector organisations

  • Managing opportunities through the sales cycle, working collaboratively with colleagues across Commercial and Customer Success teams

Market Development

  • Acting as Delib's local representative within Australia, particularly Western Australia

  • Building market awareness through LinkedIn, industry events, conferences, and professional networks

  • Developing a deep understanding of public sector structures, priorities, procurement processes, and stakeholder landscapes

  • Identifying opportunities for growth within existing jurisdictions, agencies, and new market segments

  • Providing customer and market intelligence to help shape Delib's strategy and product direction in APAC

Sales Operations

  • Maintaining accurate CRM records and pipeline forecasts

  • Tracking activity, opportunities, and commercial outcomes against agreed targets

  • Collaborating closely with the APAC and wider international teams to continuously improve sales approaches, messaging, and market positioning

What Success Looks Like

Success in this role will be measured through a combination of:

  • Qualified opportunities created

  • New business revenue generated

  • Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR) growth

  • Pipeline value and progression

  • Conversion rates throughout the sales cycle

  • Market presence and relationship development across Australia and APAC

  • Accurate forecasting and CRM management

This role balances relationship building with commercial outcomes. We are looking for someone who can create opportunities, progress them effectively, and contribute directly to Delib's growth in the region.

About Us

We're an established SaaS company that has spent more than 20 years building technology for the public sector. Our software supports governments and publicly accountable organisations across EMEA, North America, and APAC.

Delib's mission is to:

  1. Make democratic processes easier to run for governments.

  2. Improve access to democratic processes for everyone.

We believe people should be able to participate in decisions that affect their lives. Through our engagement platforms, we help governments and public organisations run transparent, collaborative, and effective consultation and engagement processes.

Our customers use Delib to:

  • Save time and resources

  • Provide clearer information to communities

  • Collect higher quality feedback and data

  • Make better-informed decisions

Our software has been trusted for some of the largest and most visible public consultations and engagement programmes delivered over the past two decades.

We're serious about the impact of our work, while maintaining a supportive, collaborative, and down-to-earth culture.

Requirements

Essential

  • 2-5 years' experience in business development, sales, account executive, commercial, or similar SaaS roles

  • Experience creating and progressing opportunities through outbound sales activity

  • Comfortable engaging senior stakeholders through phone, video, email, LinkedIn, and face-to-face meetings

  • Strong commercial acumen and ability to identify customer challenges and opportunities

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience managing opportunities within CRM systems and maintaining accurate pipelines

  • Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to work successfully in a remote-first environment

  • Curious, coachable, and comfortable operating in a growing business

  • Strong relationship-building skills and confidence in unscripted conversations

  • Ability to explain complex ideas simply and clearly

  • Comfortable working across time zones and building strong relationships with team members based in New Zealand, the UK, and other regions.

Highly Desirable

  • Experience selling into government, public sector, regulatory, health, or not-for-profit organisations

  • Understanding of public sector procurement processes

  • Experience within SaaS, GovTech, Civic Tech, or technology businesses

  • An interest in democracy, public policy, community engagement, or improving how governments interact with citizens

  • Experience working within SMEs, scale-ups, or growing technology businesses

Why Join Delib

  • Work in the growing Tech-for-Good sector

  • Help organisations deliver better public participation and engagement

  • Join an established international SaaS business with a strong reputation and long-term customer base

  • Play a key role in Delib's growth across Australia and APAC

  • Enjoy the flexibility of a fully remote role based anywhere in Australia

  • Travel to meet customers, attend events, and connect with colleagues

  • Learn directly from experienced commercial leaders and industry specialists

  • Take ownership of a high-impact territory with significant growth potential

  • Shape your own career path within a growing international business

Your Future at Delib

We don't operate a rigid career ladder. Instead, we create opportunities for people who take ownership, solve problems, and contribute beyond the boundaries of their role.

The people who thrive at Delib are proactive, accountable, and genuinely interested in making a difference. As our APAC presence continues to grow, this role offers significant opportunities to expand your commercial responsibilities and influence.

Employment Eligibility and Screening

Due to the nature of our work with government and public sector organisations, the successful applicant will be required to satisfy employment screening requirements, including a National Police Check and verification of identity and right to work in Australia. Any offer of employment will be conditional upon the satisfactory completion of these checks.

Delib is a digital democracy company, founded in 2001 in a fit of frustration at outdated general election practices that failed (and still do) to take into account the democratic decisions that actually affect citizens. Democracy doesn’t just stop after a general election. It’s everywhere, every day. The problem was that citizens either didn’t know how to access it, or had to jump through so many hoops to take part that it just wasn’t worth their time. Why on Earth were organisations still using such outdated, inaccessible processes when there was this marvellous thing called the internet at their disposal? Which is where Delib comes in. We look at democratic processes that aren’t functioning properly, and design digital products that make them work for an internet age. Our technology is created with the dual intent of making democracy accessible for citizens beyond the ballot box, and simplifying the process of engaging with citizens in everyday democratic decisions. By lowering the barrier to entry, the process of participation becomes more convenient, meaningful and representative for citizens as as well as governments, because that’s what democracy’s all about, right? We’ve got three products to help with three different democratic processes. These are: Citizen Space, our flagship consultation platform; Simulator, a deliberative prioritisation tool for getting the public involved in complex decision-making; and Dialogue, a crowdsourcing platform for constructive conversations online. Our products are in use by 160+ governments bodies around the world. Delib’s customers have run consultations and engagement activities on everything from planning for the impacts of climate change, to setting policing priorities, to historical constitutional issues like the Scottish Independence Referendum.
