Responsibilities

The Receiving Clerk greets customers, consults on processing needs, and handles the weighing and sorting of fish orders. They are responsible for answering customer questions and assisting with purchase decisions in a fast-paced environment.

Requirements

Candidates must possess strong math and communication skills and be able to lift up to 60 pounds. Knowledge of the Alaska fishing industry is preferred, and flexibility for various shifts is required.

Receiving Clerk

 

Custom Seafoods Processors, Inc. has been processing sport-caught fish and wild game on the Kenai Peninsula for 30 years. Within our 12,000 square foot facility, we can handle the influx of sport-caught fish as well as process a variety of fish species to serve the wholesale market simultaneously. We are looking for driven, highly motivated individuals to join our team and help us continue to be the preferred seafood processor on the peninsula. 

 

Job Summary:

Receiving Clerk positions are available and will include assisting customers with understanding their processing needs and handling/weighing fish. We are looking for team members who have a desire to quickly connect with co-workers and customers to assess needs, who also have strong organizational skills and a keen attention to detail. Basic math skills and the ability to concentrate on multiple tasks are also required.  Must be able to lift and move up to 60 pounds.

 
Starting Pay: $15.00 - $17.00, depending on experience. 
 
This position does not provide relocation or housing!

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • None
 

What are the Primary responsibilities?

  • Greet and interact with customers.
  • Sort and weigh in orders.
  • Consult with customers to understand their needs and preferences.
  • Answer customer questions about orders and available in-store options.
  • Assist customers with their orders and purchase decisions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 

What skills are REQUIRED for this job?

  • Excellent verbal communication skills and active listening skills.
  • Excellent sales and customer service skills.
  • Strong math skills. 
  • Ability to anticipate customers’ needs.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. 
 

Education & Experience:

  • Knowledge about the Alaska fishing industry is preferred. 
  • On-the-job training provided.
 

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking both in and outside the building.
  • Ability to regularly lift and move up to 60 pounds. 
  • Flexibility Required. Available to work a variety of hours, which may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, long shifts, overtime, and late-night shifts.
