Requirements

Candidates should be physically capable of lifting up to 80 lbs and working in cold conditions. Poultry experience and bilingual skills in English and Spanish are preferred.

Our White Pekin ducks grow up in spacious barns, where they roam freely, behave naturally, and have plenty of food and water. This helps keep our ducks healthy and happy. Their lean meat is a great protein choice for home cooks looking for a new and versatile ingredient for their families, and it is nutritious too!

General Responsibilities/Job Summary The role involves assisting in cutting, trimming and sorting ducks while ensuring safety and hygiene compliance. Responsibilities include operating equipment, collaborating with team members, and following quality control guidelines. General labor tasks such as cleaning and packaging may also be required. Candidates should be physically capable, work well in a team, and be open to learning in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Functions/Duties 

o Skilled in the safe and efficient use of knives and powered equipment provided in accordance with USDA and Culver Duck Farms’ policies and procedures.  for skin trimming and removal.

o Precision Cutting: Expertise in cutting, trimming, and sorting parts of slaughtered ducks to meet specific customer specifications.

o Attention to detail in maintaining standards for trimming, bagging, and boxing products for distribution.

o Comfort and ability to work in cold conditions (under 45 degrees).

o Willingness and ability to learn to operate a pallet jack or forklift safely.

o Experience in assembling boxes and preparing products for shipment.

o Report any issues or safety concerns to the appropriate personnel.

o Keep workspace clean and organized.

o Adhere to all company rules regarding safety, food handling and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs).

o Collaborate effectively with others and maintain a positive work environment

o Identify and address safety risks, while promoting safe work habits.

o Be capable of using scales and performing basic math

o Understand and follow our animal welfare policy

o Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  

Minimum Required Qualifications

o Ability to adapt to change in the workplace.

o Ability to make decisions or take actions to solve a problem or reach a goal.

o Ability to identify and correct conditions that affect employee safety.

o Ability to complete assigned tasks under stressful situations.

o Outstanding communication skills.

o Ability to independently make decisions with minimum supervision.

o Ability to multitask and effectively prioritize workload.

o Strong teamwork skills with a willingness to assist others.

o Ability to comply with all company policies and procedures.

o Poultry experience preferred

o Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but bot required  

Physical Job Requirements The physical requirements/environmental factors for this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

o Fast-paced production environment with exposure to noise, dust, heat, and machinery.

o Requires standing, walking, lifting (up to 50 lbs. without assistance; 80 lbs. with assistance), bending, and working in elevated or confined spaces.

o Must be able to use hands for simple/firm grasping.

o Must be available to work flexible hours, including weekends or holidays.

Work Authorization/Security Clearance: Must be able to pass E-Verify.
