The Adult Education Facilitator will support all CCRI Advantage areas involving curriculum, instruction, teacher training and professional development. Adult Education Facilitators help students become independent learners and to transition from tutorial support as they enter CCRI. Adult Education Facilitators develop program practices that support working adults to access post-secondary education and to complete credit-bearing college courses.
CCRI Advantage is an intensive program for incoming college students who have earned either a high school or high school equivalency diploma and need to increase their academic proficiency in reading, writing, and/or mathematics prior to enrollment in college credit classes. Each of the CCRI Campuses work collaboratively to provide students with an innovative approach to developmental education. CCRI Advantage is unique in its carefully designed curriculum and pedagogy, advisement, ongoing professional development, and mentor-based training model.
Work Schedule:
There are 3 positions available and these positions are 30 hours a week with prorated benefits.
English Facilitator, Monday through Thursday 8am-4pm
Math Facilitator, Monday through Thursday 8am-4pm
English and Math Facilitator, Monday through Thursday 1pm-9pm
Duties and Responsibilities:
CCRI Advantage Program:
May deliver instruction in multiple formats and to diverse student populations
Work directly with the faculty lead teacher in designing and delivering the CCRI Advantage curriculum to students enrolled in the program
Remain responsible for maintaining high-levels of student engagement and enacting the CCRI Advantage curriculum with fidelity to the program model
In the initial cohort, work under the guidance and leadership of the faculty teacher. In subsequent cohorts, the Core Facilitator will be responsible for curriculum improvements and delivery of lessons and will be the lead in the classroom
Work directly with the faculty teacher to assess the curriculum as the classes progress and suggest changes as necessary
Work collaboratively to create and deliver lesson plans to assigned classes
Assist students as they plan, revise and edit essays, and respond to writing with suggestions for improvement
Share in the lead of classroom activities over the course of the class session
Assist in student conferences, orientation, testing and recruitment
Work with other Core and Co-op Facilitators and the CCRI Advantage team to plan, design, revise, and assess the writing/reading or math curriculum
Support students who are unsuccessful in the 7-week course by either providing ongoing tutoring or an Adult Education (Bridge) seminar while the students are enrolled in other credit-bearing classes during the second 7-weeks of a semester
Communication/Collaboration:
Attend and participate in team meetings with advisors, faculty and other teachers, in addition to program, department, division and professional development meetings
Collaborate with faculty teams (math, writing/reading and advisement) to support successful delivery of the CCRI Advantage curriculum and the development of teachers and advisors in the program’s instructional model at multiple campuses as the program scales out
Works in a flexible, collaborative, and responsive manner with multiple stakeholders to achieve CCRI Advantage outcomes and goals
Utilizes program data to discuss CCRI Advantage outcomes and offers suggestions for improvement/redesign
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree
Experience working with diverse learners
Well-developed oral and written communication, planning skills, and adaptability
Proactive and detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
Ability to work effectively as an individual contributor and team member
Ability to receive and incorporate feedback quickly
Willingness to be assigned to one of the any of the campuses after the program scales from the initial first year
Demonstrated advocacy and commitment to student success and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by community college and developmental education students
Ability to work across departments and divisions including working with faculty and student support services
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with faculty, staff and students
Strong computer application skills, including knowledge of MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Preferred Qualifications:
Master’s degree
Three years of teaching experience in adult education, developmental skills or related discipline
Experience working within a community college environment
Experience with and commitment to working with low-income families and individuals
Demonstrable commitment to diversity, social justice, and inclusivity
Excellent time management, organizational and computer software skills
