Full job description

Columbia-Greene Community College seeks a full-time Prison Education Liaison who reports to the Director of Prison Education Programs. The Prison Education Liaison supports the operational implementation and coordination of prison education programs by providing on-site academic and holistic support to registered students at the College’s partnered OCFS and DOCCS facilities. The Liaison assists the Director in working with partner institutions and stakeholders in ensuring the smooth operation of all the Higher Education in Prison Programs. The Liaison is an important resource in the Student Success team, supporting events, special initiatives, and data management both on-campus and in the College’s partnered facilities.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Work with an assigned caseload of partner sites to ensure the needs of stakeholders are addressed, reporting any issues or concerns to the Director.

Ensure the timely exchange and input of enrollment-related paperwork and assist the Prison Education Students with the matriculation process.

Serve as the primary academic advisor for prison education students

Serve as the primary liaison between the facility and the College and operating as the first point of contact for onsite faculty.

Coordinate with the Office of Academic Affairs to identify the classes needed and develop a course schedule each term.

Plan all events relevant to prison education programs, for example, commencement ceremonies in correctional facilities or onboarding of new faculty.

Work closely with on-campus stakeholders to ensure the operational needs of external programs are implemented effectively.

Ensure academic program documentation (in conjunction with academic affairs) is coordinated and compiled, such as course syllabi, course assessments, and student evaluations.

Utilize Banner, DegreeWorks, OnBase, and other campus systems to carry out necessary functions related to the administration of external programs.

Serve on applicable College committees and attend relevant SUNY and New York State meetings, as necessary.

Implement strategies for increasing and sustaining enrollment in the prison facilities.

Support the Office of Enrollment Management in implementing the institution’s Enrollment Management Strategy.

Support the Office of Enrollment Management by attending enrollment-related events.

Provide support to the Director in the application and coordination of grants and funding relevant to the program.

Perform other duties, as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in an appropriate field such as higher education administration, school administration, student affairs, or business.

Experience in providing operational support to programs.

1-3 years of relevant experience, preferably in higher education or a similar field.

Salary and Benefits Information

Annual 12-month salary range $55-58k, dependent on qualifications and experience. The College offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes medical and dental insurance, short-and long-term disability, generous vacation, and sick leave, paid holidays, pre-tax flexible spending accounts, retirement plans, tax-deferred compensation, as well as employee and dependent tuition waivers. PSLF waivers offered.
