Bridgewater College is seeking a skilled Mechanical Maintenance Technician to help maintain the mechanical systems that keep our campus safe, comfortable, and operating efficiently. This position performs a variety of maintenance and repair work across HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems while supporting the daily operations of the College's Facilities team.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Maintain Campus Building Systems

Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems throughout campus.

Troubleshoot equipment issues and respond to maintenance requests in a timely manner.

Help ensure campus buildings remain safe, comfortable, and fully operational.

HVAC Maintenance

Service heating and cooling equipment, including air handlers and unit ventilators.

Replace filters, belts, and other routine maintenance components.

Adjust thermostats and controls to maintain efficient building comfort.

Electrical Maintenance

Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical systems.

Replace lighting fixtures, switches, outlets, breakers, and ballasts.

Assist with inspections and maintenance of emergency electrical equipment.

Plumbing Maintenance

Repair plumbing fixtures, valves, faucets, toilets, urinals, and water heaters.

Diagnose and repair leaks and clear drain line blockages.

Perform routine plumbing maintenance and minor system upgrades.

Support Facilities Operations

Complete work orders accurately and maintain detailed maintenance records.

Maintain tools, equipment, and parts inventory.

Assist contractors working on campus mechanical systems.

Participate in special event setup, snow removal, emergency response, and on-call rotations as needed.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

High school diploma or GED.

Two years of experience in HVAC, plumbing, electrical maintenance, or a related building trades field.

Practical knowledge of building maintenance systems, tools, and equipment.

Ability to safely operate motorized equipment and power tools.

Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.

Valid Virginia driver's license with a satisfactory driving record.
