About Prep

Boston Prep is a college-preparatory charter public district, made up of a single-site middle and high school. In 2026-2027, our community will include 700 students in grades 6-12, nearly 500 alumni, over 150 faculty members, and hundreds of families. The majority of our students and families reside in Dorchester, Roxbury, Mattapan, and Hyde Park. As a charter public school, we welcome all students via an impartial public lottery, and hold the same high expectations and ambitions for all of our students, including those with special needs and English language learners.

As a Front Desk & Operations Associate:

  • Boston Prep requires a dynamic person with sophisticated multi-tasking skills to assume administrative responsibilities. The school’s Front Office & Operations Associate must embrace the challenges of a busy work environment. The ideal candidate will have a working familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, and a solid understanding of databases and data entry.

  • The hours for the role are 7:15am - 3:45pm

  • This position reports to the Director of Operations.

Key Responsibilities of the Role:

Administrative and Operations Duties

  • Serving as the primary contact for main office reception including answering the telephone, greeting visitors, and maintaining accurate visitor log, etc.
  • Delivering a high level of customer service to our students, parents, visitors, faculty and community
  • When covering the desk, updating daily attendance, including verification of daily student attendance
  • Supporting the new student enrollment, lottery and waitlist process, including phone calls and onboarding new students
  • Serves as manager of school security, including monitoring all entrances and enforcing safety protocols of the school
  • Emptying the lost and found bin on a bi-weekly basis or as needed, including an email to students with contents
  • Coordinating school mailings, including quarterly report cards
  • Update student demographics and addresses in Powerschool in compliance with school policy
  • Ensuring accurate record keeping and student files
  • Receiving and distributing mail and packages
  • Collaborating with teachers and other administrators to advance the school’s mission
  • Supporting the school with daily duties and serve on the Emergency Response Team
  • Supporting with whole school operations projects, as needed
  • All other projects and duties assigned by the Director of Operations or the School Leadership Team

MBTA Transportation Coordination

  • Ordering, taking inventory and re-issuing MBTA cards for students, including students who live outside city limits
  • Communicating with students and families and BPS representatives about MBTA cards
  • Sorting and labeling all MBTA cards and distributing in August of each year
  • Ensuring all students have a functioning MBTA card for the entirety of the school year

Building of School Culture

  • Frequently communicating the school’s mission to children and families
  • Adhering to school academic and disciplinary protocols

Maintenance of Organizational Culture

  • Actively engaging in one’s learning; seeking and acting on feedback regularly
  • Actively pursuing professional development, inside and outside of the school
  • Collaborating with other teachers and administrators to advance the school’s mission

Compensation:

  • The pay range for this role is: $54,075-$66,960

Qualifications include:

  • Strong commitment to the mission and vision of Boston Prep
  • 2 or more years of office experience, preferably in a school (strongly preferred)
  • Fluent in Haitian Creole or Spanish (strongly preferred)
  • Ability to interact warmly and professionally with students, parents, faculty, staff, community members and visitors
  • Proficient in using technology for communication and data organization, especially email, Google suite and Microsoft suite (Excel, documents, etc.)
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and organizational skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize and meet deadlines
