Summary

Under close supervision, is responsible for operation of deburring machinery and material handling.  Must meet Bobrick standards of safety, product quality, productivity and policies.  The individual needs to constantly upgrade their job skills in keeping with changing technology.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Understands the Four Level Defect Grading System and continually seeks out, reports and contributes to problem solving to correct or prevent quality defects and errors.
  • Follows verbal instructions to ascertain equipment and set up required.
  • Monitors and verify that the quality and quantity of work performed meets Bobrick standards.
  • Select and sets up air operated hand tools and fixtures on work bench.
  • Participates and recommends new and improved work methods for work performed.
  • Assists with material handling operations.
  • Performs part deburring utilizing automated equipment.
  • Maintains the production process in a capable and aligned state and works to continuously improve.
  • Maintain a healthy and safe environment by keeping the work area clean, materials positioned correctly and always following safe operating procedures.
  • Performs weekly pre-use inspection checklist on equipment.
  • Stacks completed product on skids.
  • Demonstrates proficiency on support side presses and fladder
  • Ability to operate 221 cell press, welder, and cartoner machines.
  • Not required to perform setup tasks (Grade 5 module completion)
  • Operator must operate efficiently (90% or higher) in order to move to next Grade level.

Schedule

Monday to Friday: 6:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Overtime as required.                        

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and must learn the basic principles of self-balancing flow manufacturing.  The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodation may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Education and/or Experience

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).  Self-Balancing Flow manufacturing knowledge or experience an asset.  Good knowledge of shop and safety practices is essential.

 Language Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Must be able to communicate orally and in writing, giving clear and concise messages.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers of common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms.  The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, climb or balance and talk or hear.  The employee is occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.  The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 to over 100 pounds with assistance. (Assistance required for 50+ pounds includes use of lift, jack, handcart, walkie, or co-worker, etc.) Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Required to wear personal protective equipment: eye protection, hearing protection, safety shoes, and safety sleeves.

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, fumes or airborne particles, and risk of electrical shock.  The employee is frequently exposed to vibrations.  The employee is occasionally exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions.  The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
