General Summary
This position works under the direction of the Director of Marketing & Development and performs duties and assignments related to administrative services for the Development Department and Youth Home executive team. Maintains the fundraising database (ales Force platform). Creates fundraising reports, gift and constituent records, acknowledgement letters, gift receipts, and pledge reminders. Creates and mails various fundraising mailings throughout the year. Assists with board management and generates minutes for the board and various other meetings as assigned. Coordinates development projects as assigned. Produces monthly e-newsletter. Greets new team members on behalf of Development Department during orientation. This is a safety sensitive position when around patients.
Duties & Responsibilities
Maintains development documentation, electronic files and database.
Coordinates meetings, tours, and visitors.
Provides support as needed for development activities, including maintenance of accounts, files, and materials.
Assists with the coordination of Youth Home board meetings.
Generates direct mail appeals and tracks responses for all direct mail appeals, including maintaining records of revenue and expenses for all appeals.
Performs general office functions (e.g. answer telephone, route calls appropriately, take routine messages, provide information for routine questions, and operate standard office equipment, files as assigned).
Reconciles contributions with accounting in a timely manner.
Makes presentations to the community as needed.
Other duties as outlined by the supervisor.
Qualifications
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
Strong written and verbal skills; ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures and government regulations. Must have the ability to write reports, business correspondence.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and the general public.
Must be very organized and able to manage concurrent timelines, tasks, and deadlines.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
Basic understanding of calculation of figures for use in statistics, accounting and billing procedures as needed for departmental projects.
Work Experience &/or Education
High school diploma or equivalent required. Bachelor's degree preferred and a minimum of two years experience in a development or fundraising related field strongly preferred. Excellent spelling, proofreading and composition skills required. Experience with design programs such as Illustrator highly desired. Experience in non-profit fundraising, public relations and volunteer management highly desired. Advanced skills in database management and word processing software, database processing programs required. Must have available reliable transportation for errands, etc.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Team members are required to sit, stand, talk, see, walk and reach with hands and arms. Must maintain a current tuberculosis skin test. While performing the duties off this job, the team member is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
