My name is José Capel and I am a Partner at McKinsey & Company. I am a passionate digital business builder, with +10 of years of experience in product management and growth, digital strategy and general management.
At McKinsey, I am the go-to expert in Europe for digital business Build (product) & Boost (marketing & sales). Simply put, I help our clients to successfully build and monetize their products digitally. I do so by either:
1.) Boosting their existing, non-performing products by working at the center of product, design and marketing & sales teams in topics such as e.g., CRO and value proposition strengthening.
2.) Building new businesses and products from scratch that customers love by orchestrating at the intersection of business strategy, product management (incl. GTM), design and engineering.
Additionally, I am the leader of the Product Guild in Europe at McKinsey (managing +200 product colleagues). This is, I lead efforts across:
1.) Hiring: defining our hiring strategy incl. hiring targets per market, performing last interview rounds, Etc.
2.) Training: shaping learning agenda for our experts, defining the global technical competency model (TCM) for performance management and development, Etc.
3.) Retaining: leading guild community activities such as monthly townhalls, quarterly in-person meet-ups, Q&As, 1:1 coaching, Etc.
Prior to McKinsey, I worked as Director of Product Portfolio Management & End User Monetization (Marketing & Sales) at Plinga GmbH - a Rocket Internet venture. We successfully EXITED Plinga in 2017, which was acquired by Orange Games. As a result, Plinga is now +800 employees and HQs all across the globe.

-- Unlocking the potential of Big Data applied to the physical world through Wi-Fi Location based Analytics -- At WiStat Solutions we have developed a product that leverages two now-ubiquitous technologies —smartphones and Wi-Fi —in order to enable retailers to better extract and further analyse as much data as possible from all their stores. By using a passive approach, our product will detect a mobile device trying to connect to the retailer's Wi-Fi network and collect anonymous device information that will be added and further analysed through our software. This information is comprehensively presented to the retailer so he can better understand his consumers' behaviour. We firmly believe that it is only through this kind of innovation and technology that retailers will be able to understand and exceed their customers’ expectations.

This project involved the analysis of the most appropriate speed and strength, to be applied to the different types of marble pieces when cutting them with diamond blades. The idea was to better preserve the marble and the diamond blades in order to lower the costs. As a result of the study, the company (100-200 employees) saved over €25.000 per year.
Formula Student (FS) is Europe's most established educational motorsport competition, run by the Institution of Mechanical Engineers. Tecnun Motorsport is the racing team from Tecnun, Engineering School from the University of Navarra.
