About

Jiang Zhu serves as Director of Engineering at Netskope. He has over 20 years of industrial experience building distributed systems ranging from embedded devices to large-scale media systems. His areas of expertise are computer vision, content mining, knowledge graph and recommendation systems. His research was on adaptive content networking, large-scale data systems, software defined networking (SDN), cloud service orchestrations and applications of data mining and machine learning in these fields. He got his doctoral degree from Carnegie Mellon University with thesis topic on machine learning and data mining of mobile user behavioral analysis. He also did his doctoral study focusing on SDN and OpenFlow in High Performance Networking Group at Stanford University. He also received his M.S. degrees in Electrical Engineering and in Management Science & Engineering from Stanford University. Before Stanford, he obtained his B.Eng in Automation from Tsinghua University. Before Netskope, he was CTO and VP of Engineering at AstroReality. He was also a Distinguished Engineer at Polyvore, Inc, acquired by Yahoo! and later became part of Verizon Media. He spent most of career at Cisco Systems, building various computer systems. He was also the founding engineer for Azalea Networks, a wireless mesh vendor later acquired by Aruba Networks Inc., while he was graduate student at Stanford. Based on his doctoral thesis research at CMU, he cofounded Zense Inc., a mobile security startup and currently serves as chief technical advisor. He's held senior technical leadership positions at Cisco Systems Inc, and Juniper Networks Inc. focusing designing and developing large scale intelligent networked systems. He has served on review and organizing committees of many technical conferences and journals, on distributed computing, multimedia and networking.
