About

I'm an experienced software engineer who loves turning messy data into actionable insights, and building effective engineering teams. My time is divided between three areas: designing & implementing software, working with product owners to help define product direction, and coaching/managing less experienced software engineers. I'm a pragmatic product engineer who focuses on user experience and building a consumes using metric driven approaches to evaluate if our solutions solved the users problems or not. The most impactful work of my career can be attributed to strong cross disciplinary collaboration between Product, Engineering, and UX-UI Design. I've worked in an eclectic mix of environments including biotechnology, proptech (commercial real estate), community software as a service, academia, and e-commerce. I've been a sole contributor, employee 70 at a startup, lead a team of 12 at a F500, and everything in-between. For the last nine years I've mostly been working in Python, I've been an engineering team lead for three years, and a people manager for about two years.
